Default Pariahs' Zero 4.0

Well I decided I should switch to Bergs for the competitive edge and the reliability and simplicity of electronic digs. The build took me two nights to complete which is nice. Too easy! Getting it on the rocks for the first time, I was shocked that it already easily outperformed my TLT comp rig that had countless hours in tuning and fabricating. Definitely see why people call them cheaters.

As for mods, I ditched the rear stock stub shafts for the Axial stubs because I knew they were a weak point from what I've read. Up front I fabbed up some frankenstein cvd's using the stock berg inner shafts and MIP cvds for the scorpion axles. I've ran them hard for about six runs without any problems yet. Hopefully they'll hold up untill MIP makes a Berg specific application. Other than the OTA steering, the rest of the rig pretty much follows the norm for Berg/Zero builds. Excellent chassis and links bty Kamikaze Very slick stuff. I narrowed the chassis up a little more for the tight V-notches we get into around here in East Texas and still works great.

The breakdown:

Zero 4.0
Kamikaze Kustoms hc links
Extreme RC Ti upper links
modded 4.0 big bore shocks
Losi springs - whites and yellows
Tekin FXR
1320 3 cell lipos
35T Warriors on order
Hitec 5955
Panther tires
Vanquish Pro Comp Revolvers
Nomadio React
RC4WD scorpion knuckles
Fubar lockouts on order
Ti drag link on order from Rocksmith
Body - Old reliable. Discontinued HPI baja bug body... Jackasses

On to the pics

Nice KK BERG...The front steering set-up is pretty rad.

I just got some Berg axles in the mail last night!

Looks good dude.
I'd be a little nervous about having the dig servo pointed straight up like that. If it works, go with it.

Jeff has been selling that dig plate from the start and I have not heard of a servo being damaged at all. For the most part we are all running that setup. And for a while the ESC and reciver was up there to.There is a body over it.

No problems here either. I now have just my rec. and the servo up there, no issues whatsoever.

That's cool. It's the first time I had seen it that way. I guess I'll make it an option while I whittle my way through my Berg build.

Thanks for the kind words guys. Well for most of you anyway. Bigflex, I was planning on keeping this one a secret till the next comp but decided to let the cat out of the bag anyway. It'll still be funny to see the look on the others faces who don't know yet. Main reason I made the switch was because of the issues I was having with mechanical digs. Just not reliable enough for me in comps.

I'd be glad to share what I've learned while building this rig with anyone who might be interested. I try to post some pics of how I got the cvds to work if you guys are curious about it.

Thanks for looking,
Pariah

I might be going this route as wel. But I will be using either bullies or HR axles. If I go with the HR I will be hitting you up on the cvd info!

Pariah is leading right now, and if the rest of us don't step up the game I guess it will stay that way... that reminds me I need to get the standings posted up on the Texas board

It's pretty simple if you or someone you know has access to a welding rig. You're basically cutting and splicing the two shafts to the original inner axle shaft length. After cutting them to the correct length, spot weld the shafts back together then grind the welds back down smooth. Then I used a piece of 1/4'' steel brake line as a sleeve to add strength back to the axle shaft. The O.D. of the axle shaft is right at 3/16'' and the inner diameter of the brake line is 3/16 or just a hair larger. I had to tap/press the sleeve into place on the shaft so it's a really nice fit. You must put the bearing on before you weld it all back together! You will also want to have a spray bottle handy to immediately cool the axle and bearing assembly down or the bearing will be ruined. Once the sleeve is in place, spot weld it to the axle shaft on both sides then smooth your welds back down making sure there's no clearance issues when reinstalling it into the housing. Hope this helps. There is a link below of the completed cvd. If needed, I can go into greater detail and I will be building another set of these next week so I'll take pics of each step if needed.

Thanks,
Pariah
