| Turbo's Berg Build...
So, i took the plunge and bought some Berg axles to play around with. I had a chassis design floating around in my head for awhile, so I drew it up on cad and made sure it would work out. I wanted to use a different kind of chassis material...in part to be different..but mostly to use something super light weight and extremely strong. I picked up a sheet of 1/8" thick Carbon Fiber from Ebay and started cutting/dremeling/cursing lol. After I was done i had these... Then I made a new Delrin Skid plate and wound up with this... I used some 8/32 threaded rod for MOCK up links to get the geometry down and everything lined up ok. I also, clocked the front axles to get the castor angle i wanted and to get the Motor up and out of the way of any hang ups. Much more to come on this...stay tuned! |

Thanks for the compliments. It came out pretty good for being hand made. The shocks, I'm still playing around with...they are associated shocks off the RC10-t's...standard associated stuff...It's gonna run a 3.5" shock. |

Looks good so far... I am in the process of redoing my link geometry and testing it. It looks pretty similar to yours actually. We'll see how it performs.

Nice chassis! I love to see people think outside of the box and make their own stuff, very cool. The CF is sweet too. A little tip, get some epoxy (like the 5 min stuff) and paint it on all of your cut edges. It will seal the CF back up and make it alot stonger and resist damage from hits/rock rash. |

Well, I have a little bit of progress on this... I Got my new wheels from Proline and my New Hot Bodies Rovers from CKRC. These tires feel awesome!!! I could throw them on my ax-10 rig and try them out, but I'm gonna hold out until this is done to run them. I also got a new Grappler body courtesy of Millenium Hobbies in NJ for winning the season title for 2.2. The body is rought cut...paint will be soon. Here's some pics. |

Holy fiber Sickness batman, dang that's the direction I'm going too , cool stealth colors ! that's really looking Sick ! although that CF looks weird, shouldn't it be fiber/glossy on both sides ? Hope you were safe when you were cutting it, u dont want to inhale that stuff. Did U go with Rear Epic wheels or the Fronts are the front's .100 narrower and still clear the knuckles..? Lookin goood & thanks Last edited by toy4crawlin; 11-06-2008 at 03:41 PM. |

Fantastic looking rig. The new Slash wheels look killer and those tires look very promising! Great setup so far and I am interested in seeing the updates |

Thanks guys... The CF is raw on one side...I'll have to clear it or resin the other side sooner or later...it's fine for now. I covered up and used the vacuum while cutting to suck up the dust ;) The wheels are Slash epic REARs on all four corners. The give a nice narrow track. and still clear eevrything. and I love the black on black stealthy look of things. Clear body?...good idea...maybe I'll try some transparent mettalic scheme or something. |

| winter project updates...
So, i had the opportunity to get down to Hauntfreaks shop to get some time on his Machines. He has a pretty awesome set-up...all the tools needed to build just about anything. THANKS HAUNTS!!! I made some links and got the wheelbase right where it should be. It articulates smooth and looks killer! The links are pretty straight forward for the most part...with the exception of a high clearance Delrin rear link. We made a high clearance steering link to run with the ckrc high clearance knuckles and I had to switch my front beadlocks out in favor of the Slash Front bl's for a wider offset to clear the knuckle...but I still dont know if im gonna run the streeing link. I also Modded DB888's Berg lock out plate to be a little lighter ;) electronics are on the work bench. updates soon. pics: |
