| A custom shafty costs more than a custom Berg
Based on the way I built by Axial and then equalizing costs based on teh assumption you would spend the same on like items like the chassis, wheels, etc., a custom Berg is slightly cheaper to build than a custom shafty. Some of my prices are rounded guestimates so don't bother picking them apart. The bottom line is it's about the same to do either type of build. Last edited by dpdsurf; 11-30-2008 at 04:40 PM. |

I've spent way more than that on a shafty. My GC-2 Axial based build came close to $1500 without including my DX3r. I've built three berg trucks and have not yet to spend over $1100 on them.

| I'm about the same as well Carver. My SW3 shafty cost me about $1400 without radio. My berg is right at $1000.

My berg without ESC and Tx/Rx and lipo cost me 450. Add in the 3r then a mm , 5955, lipo , and my DL wheels im at 879. I'm alot happier with a berg quality as opposed to and shafty. |

I'm not sure when it happened but suddenly I find myself driving around an rc car that cost nearly as much as my first 1:1 car. This hobby has gotten a bit pricey over the years. I just purchased a berg kit, another goat, and some tires and paused for a long while before I clicked the confirm button. I just wish I had seen this forum before heading down the Axial route. Otherwise it's definitly been fun.

| When I built my first crawler a little over 2 1/2 years ago, I told my buddies that I didn't want to get stupid with this hobby like we did everything else we did. I didn't want to sink $1000 into a crawler! Well.........I have two of them! |

Yeah, I'm sure you could easliy get another $200 into either build above based on my leaving something out or future mods. I just had a feeling that the upgraded axles and dig on a shafty offset the additional motor and axle costs of a Berg so I decided to do the math. |

But if your hobby before was 1:1 wheeling... it was a locker this month $400... set of tires next month $1000... flowmaster $150... broken axle replacements $200... and so on. It's nice finally havin a hobby that I afford big time upgrades for while still not breaking the bank... |

| I always want to do a build thread but get caught up with the build then forget to take pictures. I could always post my finished product for ya .... . After I clean off the "rust" . Although with my new inception into the JR company, The price went up about 40 more yen . |
