Default My First Crawler Build..

So I am a total newb the crawler world and have been reading on what crawler to build and I think I have it narrowed down to a berg axle build with KK Zero chassis. I have tons of questions but I was wondering.. Is it better buy the axles and piece the build together or buy the actual kit and sell of what I don't use? It looks like the axles are rooughly 200 and you can buy the kit for 300.. What do you think? I can barely decide what to order on the menu at restraunts when the have pictures let alone what crawler to build.. I want the all

Whether to buy the kit or not has been asked before on here, a search will help you find the discusion. But I just went through the same decision process. As of yesterday amainhobbies was having a 10% off sale so the kit realy was $270. I figured for an extra $70 the kit was a good starting point. I already have an axial that I've modified heavily and I can build my own links and chassis but I still felt like the kit got me to the rocks quicker and I can modify it to fit my driving style. I know most everyone buys a new chassis, wheels, links, and shocks but I may be able to work w/ them to get them to fit my needs. We'll see.

If your an eBay seller then I would buy the kit. I think everyone on this site knows what they need out of the kit and wont buy what they dont need. With the eBay option you can sell and make back some of your money from a person looking for a spare part.

Buy the axles and then your Zero. If you have an axial you can strip it for the electronics if need be. With the findings of the "berg dig set up" its ALOT cheaper then an axial dig also. Have a good build, with your choice of axles and chassis you wont be upset . Make sure to spend the money on a good steering servo. Dont cheap out and get a $19.99 servo. You will kick yourself in the johnson for it later .
