Question Triangulated vs. parallel upper links?

I've noticed on several different Berg build threads that some guys mount their upper links to the axle in a triangulated setup, and some run parallel upper links, other's run a couple spacers on the upper link mount that pushes the upper links a little farther apart at the axle end but still triangulated.

I'm curious how this changes the suspension's behavior?

Are there pro's or con's to these different setups?

Also, do the upper links need to be a different length when spaced apart?

Thanks.

Actualy triangulated uppers will cause it to swing from side to side. Triangulated lowers and close to straight uppers will keep the axle centered.

I went through this a few weeks back.
I was fighting my truck something bad. After sitting down with Jeff for a hour or longer we nailed the problem I was having down. And now it is fixed.
I was running triangulated lowers and uppers. It was causing axle steer and swing.I spaced out the uppers and the truck now holds a line way better.

That helps, thanks. What size spacer did you end up using?

I spaced out my uppers and made them almost straight and it made my rig want to push really bad ???? Go figure Oh well I just put it back the way it was..I don't think I have any axle steer

having the upper links spaced away from eachother at the axle lowers the roll center of the axle. basically lowering the pivot point of the axle as it articulates.

I have had triangulated upper and lowers on all my rigs so far to date and have had no axle swing from side to side. You just have to make sure the triangulation on the uppers and the lowers is the right geometry.Just picture the uppers completing somewhat X's with the lowers if you was to look down on your rig and you will have no problems...Well atleast I haven't and I find that triangulated links tend to be less binding and more free flowing with the shocks and the chassis...IMO
