Default BigB_117's Fubar Skeeter Berg

This will be my first crawler, and my first RC car in about 16 years.

I've been collecting parts for about 2 months now. Finally starting to see some progress.
I'm still waiting on a few parts in the mail, mainly a bunch of screws and nuts, my wheels, my motors,
and my shocks which should be in at the hobby shop Monday or Tuesday.

I need to thank all the local North Bay RC Crawler member's for being so awesome and inviting me out to their last 3 comps.

Also a big thanks to Erik (Mad4Rnr) for loaning me his backup rig to run in the last 2 comps and for making me some sweet Mad Dog RC links.

Bryan (Bcrofts) for all the advise on my rig setup.

Dan (ROCKCAD) for answering all my newb questions.

Jake from Jake's Performance Hobbies for answering lots of questions
and selling me tons of parts.

You guys rocks

Also need to thank John at Fubar Crawlers for the sweet chassis and lockouts.

The parts list:

Berg Axle's from The Crawler Store
Berg stock steering kit
Fubar Skeeter chassis
Fubar lockouts
Mad Dog RC aluminum links, 50/50 bent lowers, 4mm hardware, with Revo rod ends.
Axial stub shafts
Axial aluminum hex's
Axial aluminum knuckles
HPI shocks (with traxxas short rod ends, traxxas spring cups, and Losi white springs)
Bowtie FatBatt rear axle tray
12t pinions
Eritrex comp heavy's
Losi Rock Claws
Futaba S9157 steering servo
Hitec HS-82mg dig servo
Holmes Hobbies dig switches
45 turn Integy motor's
Tekin FXR ESC
CC-BEC
Spectrum DX3R TX and Spectrum SR3100 RX

Nothing you guys haven't seen before but here's a few pics.

Thursday night I went over to Mad Dog RC. We clocked my axle's 30* in the rear, and 20* in the front. Super easy thanks to JeepinDoug's awesome clocking fixture.

I also got the axle's all setup with Fubar lockouts, axial stubs, etc. and put locktite on all the screws.

Then we got started on the links, but we broke a tap, so Erik had to finish them up on Saturday. I just picked them up today.

More to come soon.

How was it getting the axial knuckles on? Is the only trick to use the axial bushings?

Thats a nice parts list looks like it will be a lot of fun and a great re-entry into the Rc market. The groups that do the comps are so helpful and inviting you will be amazed...very diffrent from the race scene.

Lemmings!!!! :-P

j/k, looks like another bad ass berg is about to join the norcal ranks! Remember, all new berg owners are only allowed to run their rigs for 30 mins before their first comp.

Easy, with the Axial or HPI bushing's, they bolt right up. The berg brass bushings are too short.

Picked up some nice HPI firestorm shocks today at Jake's.

For you guys that use the same shocks, should I use the plastic rod end balls that came with the shocks? or should I swap them out for some traxxas rod ends?

I'll probably use fuel tube on the other end.

i would get some traxxas ends. then if you need extras and/or replace you know exactly what to get and i think they are stronger.

ps. hope you also bought traxxas spring cups to run losi springs ??? and to fit rod ends ?

do you have traxxas spring cups ? i had to shorten my shocks down too. depending on what ride height you want. something to think about before building shocks and oil.

Just the shock kit at the moment. The included spring cups didn't work for you?

I'll play with shock length once I get them on the truck I think.
