Default CKRC Rockstar-Berg Build

Yet another Berg build thread. There are many like it, but this one is mine. I had CKRC clock the axles for me, I didn't want to deal with it. And since it's a 10 minute drive to their shop, might as well. What I'm hung up right now is the wheels. Some of the top running/best guys here in Reno who I greatly respect, say aluminum wheels are too heavy and don't allow the rig to climb steep inclines as well as a rig running lighter plastic wheels. They run HPI 5 star wheels on their Berg's....with weights in them. It seems most everyone here runs aluminum wheels, and I dig the Mayhem and the VP wheels. Can you guys comment on my wheel dilemma?

Specs:
CKRC Rockstar chassis
CKRC 50/50 links
CKRC servo mount
CKRC lockouts
CKRC high steer knuckles
CKRC Berg steering kit
CKRC 3s lipo
Berg axles
HPI shocks
Wheels - Undecided
HB Rovers
(2x) Tekin FXR/45t combo
DX6
JR 8711

Here's a couple pics of the beginning of the build. The pile of parts, and the assembly of the chassis, after I narrowed it. I will post more pics as I make progress. This is my first 2.2 build, and is only preceeded by a TCS Stick Super I built a couple years ago, as far as crawlers go.

If they say the Aluminum wheels are to heavy, why would they add weight to the Delrin wheels? Sounds like they are to cheap to man up and buy a good set of wheels. I add 10oz of weight to each of my front wheels, and I run the VP wheels.

buy some mayhems,.. ive never gotten the whole light weight thing, especially running no weight in the rear. i like my rig to be more balanced personally, im running my fronts at 15oz total weight each and the rears are 11oz total each. i run berg offset mayhem 7 wheels i love them.

Mayhem eng. has great working rims that will work for you.

Also, Heavier weighted rims will fair better, weather it be Alluminum or plastic rims.

A little more progress. Got the links ready, (thanks Jack Smash!) and got the rear axle c's cut off and ground down for the lockouts. A few pics.
