| Project: "Skunk Works"
My super decided to go tits up on me, so I canalized the parts and started a new project, "Skunk Works." I am gonna make this my test rig so it can hack it up, modded it out, and carry out what works to my Project Shuffle rig. When I ordered my KK Zero chassis I ordered a extra set of side plates just in case. I used those and placed a order with McMasters for some delrin sheets and rod. I have to say the shipping from McMasters is second to none. I placed a order at 7pm and it was on my doorstep 10am the next day!!! Cut out my skid and used JeepinDougs fixture to fab up some links. With the chassis complete, I started on the axles. I tore them down; installed Axial stubs in the front knuckles, clocked both with JeepinDougs berg clocker, and installed CKRCs rear lockouts. While I was at Pepboys getting some grease, I noticed that they sell traxxas trucks and parts, thats where I got my link ends at. With the chassis and axles together I started on the steering. First off, one of the points I wanted was to have the battery on front axle and the other to run a brushless setup. To get ideas I searched rccrawler and came along the setup that I used for my truck. I had a CKRC servo plate that I just notched and drilled for the short side of the axle and used KKs steering link with a traxxas tierod. Chassis: KK 4.0 Zero Axles: Berg clocked 25degrees w/ CKRC lockouts Shocks: Losi Motors: 2xHolmes Hobbies Crawlmaster Brushless Servo: Airtronics 94780m ESC: 2x Sidewinder Micro BEC: CC |
