Default Front dig and rear freewheel?

Right now my Berg is set up with f/r dig using microswitch. I hardly use rear dig but came across moments were I would have liked resr freewheel. Is there a way to wire up front dig and rear freewheel without using dual ESC's?

Do you have your switches wired up now so that it shorts the motor while in dig to lock it?

Yup, that's how they are right now. While I know I'll never gain true freewheel, cutting power to the rear motor would be better than having the drag from shorting it.

I think you could wire the rear switch so it disconnects the rear motor instead or shorting it, but wouldn't you still have the resitance of the gears and motor?

I guess if I could find a switch that opens the circuit when press it would be easy. Like I said I know I'd never gain true freewheel, drag from motor/gears, but cutting power instead of shorting would be more useful in some point I think.

I believe this would do it for you. Someone will have to correct me if I am wrong.

ah, I get it now...

So you would have two switches, both wired to the rear motor, one to short it for front dig, and one to disconnect it for rear "freewheel".

I think you would keep one switch setup like you have it now, move the front motor wires to the ESC positive and negative, and your new switch could just be a simple 2 prong on/off switch of the same type wired to the positive wire of the rear motor after the dig switch.

I think that might work.

This looks like it would work. But just to clarify my understanding of how the switches work, when the switch is in normal position, NC and N are closed but when the switch is pressed NC and N open then NC and NO are now closed. Is that correct?

make it where it pulls a brush partially off the comm and you might get decent freewheel
