Default Hey guys...

Alright guys, I used to crawl competitvely sp? and did pretty well. However it seems a LOT has changed since I have been around and would like some pointers if this is possible.

The cheapest I have found berg is the whole kit for 300 from RPP. Is there a place I can get it cheaper??

With Berg I need 2 motors, which is fine I could get like 2 of the Integy 45T motors. Would those be a good motor for those axles? Would I want a 35, 45, 55, 65T on 3S?

What kind of speed control can run both motors at once? Can the Castle Sidewinder run 2 brushed motors? If not I heard the Mamba Max can. IF I used the MM, can I have a switch on just the rear motor so it has dig?

I want to run 3S lipo, so what size will fit on this guy?

AS far as a steering servo, im all set I have the Hitec HSR5995TG with a CC BEC.

Sorry for the newb questions, just never run a berg and got out before they came around..

You can get the newage crawler at ckrc.

http://www.ckrccrawlers.com/shop/ind...oducts_id=1537

Yes the MM can run two motors & yes you can set it up so you have FR & RR dig .

TCS has just the axles a bit cheaper if you wanna go that route. Thats a good price for the whole kit though.

Popular motors for the Berg are 35t and 45t with stock gearing (12t metric pinions). I prefer the 35t myself.

Hard to beat the Castle ESC's,either one you listed will work.

I run a PolyRC2200 3 cell I bought from Holmes. A big battery for a 2.2 but it's strapped to the belly pan.

Ok so that means that with the 35T's I can run the Sidewinder?

I didnt know the sidewinder can run both motors.

So a 3S, ONE Sidewinder and two 35T motors will be a good setup?

Im going to get the entire kit, and CKRC is sold out unfortunatley right now. Planning on ordering next week, maybe by then they will have some in stock.

Is there any diagrams of how you wire 2 motors to one ESC?

I am unfamiliar with that, as ive never done it or seen it in person. Thanks!

Thats how you wire it up, I would do the switches all at the sametime.

Im most likely going to. Gonna need to get me a micro servo which should be pretty much dirt cheap.

Does the servo hold down the switch, or tap it?

I have a DX3 oldschool with the toggle switch so im good for the 3 pos 3rd channel.

The servo will hold down the switch. Also, for ESC, if I were you I'd go ahead and move it on up to the Mamba Max. The sidewinder is good, but you get what you pay for in the extra cost of a Mamba, also, you don't need to buy a castle link with the Mamba as you would have to with the Sidewinder. The Mamba you can just plug a usb cord straight into and program. Hope that helps!! Oh, one other thing. When looking at lipo's, any mah will work, that will just dictate how long it runs. But be sure to get something in the nature of 20C or better.

Ok how would a 20C 1600Mah Do? Would that be a decent run time?

I already have the programmer for the sidewinder, as my Mamba Monster Max is setup like the sidewinder, doesent have the MM's side plug.

I understand the Mamba Max is better, but if I dont need it as far as power going through it, ill stick with the sidewinder.

Decent meaning? I just need a roundabout time. Is that 1600 going to be over 30 mins?

Also would you reccommend Tekin 45T motor over the Integy 45T motor?

Integy is cheaper, but tekin is a better name.

Cant find any 35T;s in stock anywhere so ill go for the 45's.

I'm getting 30-45 min run time out of a 1250mah 3S lipo.

I'm running Integy 45T's, on an FXR with 12 tooth pinions.

Is it worth the extra money for the Tekins?

Tekin 45T is 30

Integy 45T is 18

Not IMO.

I don't like Integy motors...and I'm running them on my Berg...if that tells you anything.

If your going to spend $30 on a regular ol' lathe motor, you might as well spend a little more and get a GOOD handwound. Thats where you'll see a difference.

X2, I am running 2 HHH 35 turn motors. With 35's, especially handwounds, it is important to run a good battery. I run a 20c 2100mah. I think 40 amps continuous is probably around a minimum with two handwound 35's. Not sure how big of a difference there is in amp draw between the handwound and machine wound motors.

And I have been running the sidewinder in mine for a while with no issues what so ever.

Take raptors advice bud.. When I was building my berg I went the cheapo way and used my OLD 45t integy and just bought another 45t integy, when Fishmaxx and Destroyer both told me to spend the extra on a handwound. Now look at the prediciment I am in, Front motor(old one) is F-ed up and I have a comp saturday which is going to force me to drive a buddies shafty.

So long story short, get the handwounds, not only because they dont bite balls like the integys, but because there smooth as a whistle

Epics are decent motors (45T). I think the endbells are the same as many of the popular handwounds.

Ok, where do I get a hand wound motor? I am clueless when it comes to brushed motors. Everything I have ever done was brushless, including my old AX10...

Holmes Hobbies Handwounds are some of the finest and thoroughly tested motors out there. Gotta be quick though,he sells out really fast. I've taken allot of motors apart for rebuilds and cleaning. The winds in these are probably some of the best/cleanest looking winds I've seen.
