| New to the Darkside - questions already.
Ok, I have made the switch to the Berglers. Ordered them from CKRC and they are the Newage. No big deal on the names I guess anymore. Heard that they are all the same. Anyway, I am already concerned about something. The axles do not operate smoothly at all. If I turn an axle on the front stub it will rotate about 280 degrees and then snag on something?! There is also a very noticeable gear noise coming from it. I tore it apart and I found that the gear that is furthest from the axles shafts (don't know what gear number, sorry) is wobbly. The shaft is fine, but the gear face is offset and wobbles?! I am not sure it is ok, but that is why I am asking. Same thing for the rear as well. I tore it apart and I can't find a single thing that owuld bind it up? Since I am new to Bergs I though that I would ask all of you. Any ideas would be appreciated. Jon |

At first they seem to do that from my experience with these axles. After tearing them down, lubing them up, and lock titing the screws I have never had a problem. I have put four together now without any issues. If you have any questions call or PM me.

Ok, good to know guys, thank you. I was assuming that but just needed to know. I did forget to ask another thing though, the grease. It comes with machine grease I am thinking. so these need to be lubed. Doesn't that meant that the pinion on the motor will get greasy too?! Won't that get into the motor? I guess it really can't hurt but I want to be clear. And what do you all use for the grease? I am partial to white lithium but is there something better to use? Thanks all. |

I use white lithium in my berg, never had any issues with it. I do tear it down every few comps or so and re-grease it up though.. |

Be sure to clean and inspect your gears really well while you have everything apart to loctite it all. I found some metal slivers in the teeth of a couple gears in one axle that could caused some problems.
