| OUT OF THE INFERNO...Hellstrom/Berg A while back I decided to pick up a second set of Berg axles to use for "rotating builds". My problem is I have an "addiction" to building as well as crawlin' Now I'm able to try the flava of the month(chassis), without having to tear apart/re-build my comp rig. Anyhoo.. I want to start off with a BIG THANKS to Jarod @ JPcustomrcs for hookin' me up w/a Hellstrom I've run a Dub D with great results in the past, the Hellstrom is an updated design of that platform. The Hellstrom has better lower link clearance, and more link placement options. The DUB is no slouch though, I passed it on to my Homie Mark(MCRockHog),who has been pulling sick ass lines with it runnin' Revo shocks INGREDIENTS JP's Hellstrom MOA chassis ----Get Yours http://www.jpcustomrcs.atomicshops.c...30/6808175.htm NewAge axles clocked 20* & 30* (Thanks to JeepinDoug's clocker) CKRC rear lockout kit DNA Snipers HB Rovers/Pro-Line 2 stage mems My custom links Castle Sidewinder/CCBEC 5955tg HH manly dig switches/HS-55 Spektrum rec/DX3R 1450Mah 3s lipo Pro-Line Baja Bug body Started off by fabbin' an electonics plate out of .060" lexan. I cut & tapped some 1/4" square delrin spacers to mount said tray and the body posts to. Then I cut 2 shock spacers from my dyed round stock I cut some oversized links from 5/16" white delrin stock. After 50 minutes in a boiling pot of magma (hence "out of the inferno"), BOOYA Orange Hotness I decided to use a couple of John Rob's BEEFY dig switches. They are a little larger than the Rat Shack switches I'm used to, so mounting them in a clean spot was a bit of a challenge. Here is what I came up with.. The switches have mounting holes in the corners. I used some long set screws to run thru the chassis and into said holes, "suspending" the dig set-up above the front upper links. Got all my links cut to length, rod ends installed, and the axles mounted up Wheelbase came out to 12 7/16" heavy Slap on some shoes......Rolla Baby!! I smell BACON.... The wife is whippin' up some breakfast, I'll get busy on my wiring & paint after I chow |

I agree with everyone else too....You are gonna need one bad a** paint job to keep it all going...I would suggest and body with black base and orange true flames....THAT WOULD BE SICK....But awesome work so far on your rig.Keep it up..I can't wait to see it done!! |

I'm no arteest with the paint, but I do O.K. for rattle can jobs An airbrush is one of those things I've yet to take on, but I see one in my near future! Nobody in my area can paint for Sh*t, or I would out-source the paint duties. Besides, I plan on drivin' the Hell outta this rig anyway, ROCKRASHED.Got a can of Indy silver, Comp orange, & Outlaw black, We'll see what happens to the bug after a quickie I like the flame idea Jeepial, Hellstrom/flames.... good combo

I actually look foward to the first roll/scratches on a new bod. After that, it's like fugg it. Game ON Got my wiring all done. Bound her up to the 3R, and she's ALIVE I'm running my lipos in the belly of this rig just like my Rockshow. Nice & low, plus it keeps them away from the rocks. I was running the same packs out back on a plate, but after a sharp bastard rock pierced one of my packs during a roll a move was in order! I've been painting here and there all afternoon. Body should be done shortly

Did what I could w/a couple rattle cans, I think it does justice to the build. I've always been a fan of the V Dub, love it:-P, or hate it, you can't deny the rollover capability vs. other bods. I plan on gettin' down to the quarry this afternoon to dial her in I will post up some action shots later on. So far on my backyard course, she's PLANTED!

Yea, clean is a good one word description for this build. Nice job w/ the color coordination. Looks great. It's nice to see someone not only make sure a rig is going to perform, but it's going to look damn good doing it as well... |

I try to plan out a build as im accumulating parts, plus I take my sweet ass time I've tried the 1 day build thing before, and I end up spending the next 2 days re-working the rig till I'm satisfied. Thanks
