Default Berg geometry.......

I'm working on my very first crawler build......I'm using a CKRC Rock-It chassis and Berg axles of course.......I thought it might be helpful to myself and others to have a thread about the positions of the links and shocks as in what is gained and lost in each set-up. Sorry if this has already been done.

As in the top links forward inward to center of chassis vs. links outward toward axles from chassis center....Shocks laid down vs. more verticle....

This thread would be 500 pages of link geometry talk is the problem. It is the same principal as any rock crawler. Equal length links help keep a nice caster angle throughout the suspension stroke.

Shocks laid down more will give you more travel but also a falling rate suspension. Some like that and some don't.

Out COG is so low that typical anti-squat calcs are really hard to do and with clod stall induced it is even harder if not impossible to put numbers to.

Lower triangulated and upper parallel geometry helps lower the roll center.

There are lots of good threads in general crawlers. Check out the 4-link thread.
