After seeing how well BillyGoats Miniclod Beetlejuice did I knew I had to have one. So Thanks to BillyGoat, I how have a Beetlejuice chassis. I also ordered up some new Vanquish DH Pro Comps to go along with the build. I've got family in town so I didn't have time to take pictures during the build, but the end results turned out pretty good I think. Specs: Enroute Berg Axles BeetleJuice Chassis Vanquish DH Pro Comp wheels Hot Bodies white Rovers Mamba Max Castle BEC JR 8711 servo dig switch with MRC servo (need to get PunkRC dig) CKRC berg Knucles Ingegy 45T motors 12t Robinson Racing pinions Home made OTA steering set up STRC lower links 30* middle bent Duratrax 4" shocks Body panels cut out of an Exit sign demoed from work 3" CG at chassis I do need to get another battery, the 3 cell lipos that I have are too long to fit well, so I have those on order and should be here Tuesday, so I'll be ready for Rocas Rojo next weekend. |

I wish that I could go to Westy tomorrow for the finals, but I have family in town until Sunday Morning. I do plan to do a little testing at Red Rocks Sunday though. Give me or Jeff a call later in the day Saturday and we'll let you know when. Were planning on a little scaler action too. Thanks, looking forward to next weekend also!

Thanks for the complements. As far as camera goes, I use a Nikon D50. As fas as video goes no, I have yet to even take it out on the rocks yet, but plan on some testing tomorrow. I might be able to get some video of it tomorrow, but my camcorder doesn't work very well any more. I might bring it and see if I can get a couple quick vids. I will have some action shots of it though for sure.

Yea after the SCX-10 Ramcharger I just seemed to really like that color combo. I do need some more practice with it, but Goodall, well I'll just make sure he doesn't drink any beer before the comp and I should do ok!

Well I got to do some testing with it today and it was a short session. I broke an upper link ball end, but I'm pretty sure it was weak before I even got out there. I fixed it the best I could as I didn't bring any parts. I borrowed a part from JGoodall to get me running. Then I managed to break a lower link ball end and fixed it again robbing more parts of his scaler. Soon after getting the links fixed I then managed to take a awkward fall and break off the servo ears on my 8711. At that point I called it a day and came home to change things up. I switched out all of the lower links that were ment for an AX-10 to links with Revo/Jato ends. I lost a little of my orange scheme, but now will have to worry less about breaking rod ends. To fix my servo problem I made a new servo plate that was a little wider and also made one that will fit over the top of the servo to capture or sandwich the servo between the plates. I know that this will put a little extra weight up heigh, but I do not like the way the servo on berg axles is so vulnerable to impact. I used servo tape between the plates and servo and 3 screws to sandwich it all togeather. This has provided a very solid mount and there is no movement at all from the servo like there was before. I drilled it for 4 holes, but I need to cut off the ears from the other side before I get that last screw in. I wanted to see how it all felt before cutting those off incase I needed them for some reason. I plan on getting a new case, but if this set up works well I may not end up needing to get one. Time will tell. I've got to get some more testing in this week and hope that I'll get to spend a little more time driving then I do wrenching. The little time that I did have before my day was completely done, I really liked the way it handles and I figure I'll be able to work out any bugs that I may have before Rocas Rojo this upcomming weekend. Couple pictures on the rocks before breaking. The mount that I made to hold and hopefully protect the servo some. |
