| SWX berg
Had this rig built for a while now and seeing how well it works, I thought I'd post up some pics. Custom SWX delrin chassis, with a cutting board skid 7955tg steering servo Spektrum rx Castle Sidewinder and BEC Radio Shack mini switches and HS-55 servo for dig Integy 55 turns with 12 tooth pinions f&r White compound rovers on berg offset DNA rims The front axle has been clocked just enough to keep the motor level with the front tube, as well as giving me a smidge of positive castor. The biggest benefit to this is digging uphill and on ledges. Since I'm still running the stock knuckles, I drilled and tapped them for zero ackerman; this also pushes the tierod closer to the axle keeping it off the rocks. In the rear, I clocked the axle just by using longer upper links; :ie: I'm too lazy to clock the tubes I also shaved the housing and the tubes, both for weight reduction and to slide better on the rocks. In keeping with the lightweight theme, I'm only running about 4 ounces in each front wheel, and the rears have six 5/8" and six 5/16" holes drilled in them. I doubt its enough to compromise the integrity of the wheels, and I don't have to worry about air holes either Well that's all I have for now, thanks for looking Last edited by Tanis; 08-02-2009 at 10:51 PM. Does good Casey!! I will never forget the first comp you showed up at, a tlt bruiser framed scale rig with the ring and pinion hanging out there... and you beat half the field!! And then to see you progress and do well with your Axial against the Bergs. And now you have a Berg and something you call a SWX? Good job man, you know how to drive!! Oh and I noticed... your not my friend anymore? |

They're drilled and spun, probably 12 to 15 degrees. |

What foam are you using for such light wheels? I tried to run rovers on a really light berg and I had trouble with foam either being a good height but too firm, or good and soft but not terribly supportive. Thanks |

| Fronts are really beat down Losi Grays with half a stock rover foam and the backs are just Losi grays. I run my foams really soft anyways, it helps when you are digging to let you know just when to release it and go.

I remember when your Mom would drop you off at the local rock pile with your tonka, then come back ever ten minutes and change you. ...those were the good old days. Good job Casey, your skill level has definitely improved. |
