| Knuckleweights...
Hey, i was using Felsenfestknuckles on my berg, but i wanted to lose some of the weight of the frontwheels. So i made some bearingsupports for the knuckles out of brass. thats nearly 3oz for the komplete knuckle. Greetings from Germany Martin |

I really like those knuckles/knuckle weights. I am also diggin' those beadlock rings. Those delrin or metal? I am currently messing with some materials to do some of those rings myself.

Brilliant idea there I'm intrigued to know how it changes the driving experience by taking out the rotating mass yet keeping the same weight bias. If nothing else the throttle must be snappier.

| Thats not always true. The weight isn't what breaks parts. Its the sudden stops that usually do. Lots of times having that momentum in the wheel helps keep axle parts alive. It is a delicate ballance. But going lighter doesn't always mean you will break less.

| Changes in angular momentum (or moment of inertia) is what will break parts. If you increase that momentum (by increasing either the velocity or mass), then you increase your chances of breaking parts. By moving the weight to the knuckles, he takes it out of the angular momentum equation since it is no longer associated with the rotating parts of the axle...

I was running Thrashers with 9 oz's in each before, no breakage. Slower throttle response. Took 4 oz's out per wheel and replaced it with knuckle weights. Snappier throttle but started breaking dog bones. Went to just SLW's with 4 oz's per wheel and couldn't keep shafts in it at all. So that is when I just put 300's in it. | |

So now that you have 300's and if your your knuckles allowed, would you take the weight out of the wheels and put it on the knuckles? Sounds like its a no compromise modification if you have snappier throttle, unchanged weight bias and no breakage. Although I still wonder if it would noticeably change the way the truck reacts during ledge jumps and steep downhills.
