Default Camo Moon Buggy Build

Last year, I built a custom tuber berg for a buddy of mine (Superduty44s). He has fairly succussfully run it for the past year, but after that much use and abuse, the old girl is in need of a majoy overhaul. Upon braking off another shock mount and braking a rear lower link, he decided it was time to pick up a Moon Buggy. He works a ridiculous amount of hours (typically 6 - 12's), and just doesn't have time for building new rigs, so he asked me to toss this together for him.

He hasn't seen it yet (and doesn't know that I sacrificed one of his favorite Savage bodies for the panels).

Here's the specs so far:

- Bergs w/ VP Knuckles, Super300 shafts & CKRC rear lockouts.
- RC Innovations Steering
- HH Torquemaster 35t motors
- T1e Moon Buggy
- T1e bent rear links
- Turbofest bent front links
- Duratrax Evader 3.5" shocks w/ Losi gold & grey springs
- CC BEC
- CC Sidewinder
- Homebuilt dig switch
- JR DS-R8801 robotic servo
- CAC Wheels w/ white Rovers

Soon to receive:
- Punk RC dig 2.0+
- Tekin FXR ESC
- Futaba s9157 steering servo
- VP ProComp DH front wheels
- VP SLW V4 rear wheels
- Pitbull Rockbeast tires
- Crawler InNOVAtions foams
- will probably clock the front axle 20 degrees

Here's the pics:

Yeah, it was a Ford Superduty body for a Savage/T-Maxx.

Thanks!

At this point, it's running on his old esc, dig switch, etc. The main that we need to be comp ready is a Futaba servo arm. It seems that the old JR DSR8801 has finally given up. The new servo is sitting here, but with no way to connect it to the drag link.

The punk dig, SLW's, weights and tires are all in the mail and will be added as they arrive.

Were you, Tom & Ed planning on driving down for the comp? We'll post up Saturday night if it's going to move to The Crawl Space.

If you want I can send you a pm or even pm me a phone number and I'll call or text you if the location is going to change.

Naw. I really haven't figured out a good way to convey the Evil Jerk, and this one isn't for me...besides, I went bodied on my rig.

Steve Martin w/ devil horns ???? Shows my age, huh ??

besides, I went bodied on my rig.

Are you running said body on your Rockshow chassis?

I ran a body on my BJV3 bodiless chassis at ECC. I'm working on doing it the right way and running a Y-Town "Juice" chassis soon.

I like the way the G.I. Joe camo turned out. Is your buddy gonna have anytime to actually drive it you think?

Yep. I had 2 comps in a row where I had to take rollovers because my cab just didn't fall in the right place to allow me to get back over, so i pulled it & went bodied. Besides, too many people in my club going bodiless. It was cool when there were only 3 of us out of 20 - 30 at a comp, but now everybody and their brother is getting BJ's and Moon Buggies.

I'd bet that the 1st time he'll drive it will be at our comp on Sunday. In fact, I probably won't get to do much testing with it, since the old servo gave up and we're not getting the servo arm for the new one until the morning of the comp.

He's not a bad driver, though, and it already is far more capable than his old tuber.

Oh. Ok. I never knew what model they were. I like the look of them, but they're getting replaced by a set of VP DH's & SLW's. PM me an offer. I'll let my buddy know and maybe he'll sell them.

As an update, this berg Moon Buggy has very little driving time (only 2 comps with the owner driving and a handfull of times with me behind the controller tuning it). With as little time as I've taken tuning it, the thing just plain works. I consistantly can drive this considerably better than my own T1e Bully that I have countless hours testing and tuning.

It never fails, I pick up the controller and it's like pushing an easy button. It just plain works.
