I seem to have solved my issue with the universal loosening. I pulled the axle out of th housing and touched the plain that the set screw lands with a drill bit, easy to do as the set screw has left a mark on the shaft!! I did NOT drill through the axle, I know that a few people are doing that. I then went to McMaster Carr and ordered some set screws that have a knurled tip. http://www.mcmaster.com/#set-screws/=7svrda

Then I liberally applied some blue lock-tite. Now run a pack and then snug them up agin and viola good to go.. I know people are looking at other options but this costs around 10 bucks! Speaking for myself the front axle seems plenty strong..

I've snapped the pin on the 4th gear and one on a hex. This was my fault for letting my trigger finger talk instead of finess soo.
