Default fattymojos Rockshow! :D

I just picked up a berg to build and try out, and have been looking around a while now. I cant seem to find a good thread about maintaining a berg.
It might be that i own a LCC and expect their to be a routine with these as well

What im looking for i guess is tips on keeping it in tip top shape. IE; where to lube and how often, what spare parts should i get a hold of because they are prone to breaking, things i must do or upgrade right away because they will leave me stranded or struggling.

Rockshow chassis on the way, V1 axles, not sure if i will run single or dual esc just yet but i have everything i need to go either way(i have electronics waiting for a XR10 dual esc so may go single in this for now).
I have a set of Stock width DH's, 2 SLW's at 1" and 2 at .7". Should i consider narrowing the DH's to run in front and run the slw in the rear?
I will run Losi shocks for now because i have a ton, but are the 3.5" big bore a big help?

Just trying to lessen the learning expense with a new rig, thanks in advance for any suggestions. Ill take pictures when the chassis gets here and i start assembly

As far as maintenance, just check all the bearings, put a little silicone grease on the gears and run it. Keep a pinion and 3rd gear (upgrades are available) handy along with axles and dogbones if ya don't get 300s.
I would get the lightest wheels I can find on the rear with no weight and add just as much weight to the front for a 60/40 bias.
Ya can get parts to make the losi shocks 3.5"
Where to buy Losi 3.5" shocks?
but I like big bores and lots of guys are running invaders.

I like the big bores too. The losis work fine but the chassis was made for a 3.5" shock so they just seem to work better.

As long as the bearings are good, the axles are pretty much maintenance free. You don't have to grease them all the time like the LCC. If they are new axles, you need to tear them apart and blue locktite every screw.

Just make sure you get metric pinions or you will chew up gears.

Well 14 days later im still waiting for my Chassis, so in the mean time im curious on a few things.

I have seen people running bent front links as well as straight front links. I know alot of people dont like bent fronts because they can be a bit unpredictable. Anybody wanna give me some advice on what i should go with? Good thing about straight ones is that i can make them

Also, could anyone give me an idea of the lengths my links will need to be for the rockshow. Im just trying to prepare for when it gets here and dont know if the links i use with the VP chassis will swap over.(KK links on my VP, bent front and rear)

The KK links will work if you have the medium bend. The high bend might get into your gear case or motor. I'll post a part number later for other fronts.

Well the rears i have will be the T1E links when the chassis gets here they should come as well. The front KK links i have look kinda medium bend. I also had to shave them a bit to get under 12.5 on the VP chassis.

Traxxis 5319x works well. They are straight with 4mm rod ends and you can put a slight bend in them if you like.

Ron is great, If you got the money, you should go to rpp hobby and get some rc axlemaster rear axles, they work with all types of lock out's and are strong as hell.
