Default Rottenbellys BWD Wedge build.

Just got back from another 28 day work-a-thon. Time to build some rigs!!
Got home to a pile a parts and a nice new chassis from Don!!
Picked up a set of axle from Constantmotion. Thanks Greg.
Electronics are from Holmes Hobbies. Gonna run some HH 55t sport motors on a HH BR-XL on 4s.
JR 8711 for steering with a CC bec.
Losi shocks with Jeepindoug C-Cups.
Punk dig and Futaba 3 PM-X
Using some M887 wheels from Reflection. Medium offset fronts,Narrow rears.
Sedonas with Nova 2 stage rears and Proline 2 stage fronts.

Ok, Lets put the chassis together!
Set up all my rod ends and started with putting links together.

Then moved to the chassis spacers. Notice how they narrow down!
The narrow part goes to the back of the chassis/skid.
The taller end of the side plates goes to the front.

Put the skid/battery tray and links on one side.

Bolted up the other side and ended up with this.

Off to change some motors and shock springs.
Will leave you with some measurements while I'm at the workbench!

Front inside and outside chassis.

Rear inside and outside chassis.

They are a beefy 5mm or .20 of a inch thick.

Got the rear axle mocked up.

Nice looking build so far, the rear geometry looks a bit off, no real triangulation. Just an idea, but maybe outboard the upper links on the chassis, and use a revo ball end or other spacer on either side of the axle mount to space it off a bit on the axle side so you don't get binding?

I was looking at that also. I am goint to try it this way first and then go from there.
It would also help with room for electronics!!

I do like the chassis! And it is nice it comes with all the links! I think ya got enough triangulation. I run my kk at least than narrow with the uppers inside. I would move the front uppers down a couple holes on the chassis, but what can ya tell, until ya run it?

I took a extra minute and took Dickyt's advice. I rummaged around for a few more spacers and outboarded the links on the chassis. Feels a bit more solid now. Less axle steer.
Will probably do the front after a parts run.
Got everything in..... Barely!! Not my best wiring job, But till i get it tuned it will work!!
Skid height at rear is 3.5 and 3.25 at front. Seems like a good starting point.

Not to crazy about this steering setup. I had to raise the whole servo up to the top holes. Otherwise the steering link would bind super bad on the bottom of the servo. My servo protector helps clamp it in there nicely for now. Looks like its time to order some Vanquish knuckles.
I have a old cdw steering kit that works pretty good with the Vanquish knuckles.
Rhino 3s 1050 40c lipo fits on tray nicely.
Working on some body mounts next.

man those rear lowers and uppers look like they're almost touching already at rest, do they clear eachother the whole way through the cycle?

fyi your current steering kit won't work with the VP knuckles.... he made a stock berhg knuckle version and a VP knuckle version. That's weird that you are having problems with it....

Nice triangulation on the rear now, should help a good bit with axle sway. Maybe the same for the front as well? I just like seeing triangles I think

edit: I misread and just noticed you said you will probably also do the front after a parts run.

They get very close at the end. But can still see daylight in between.

Well the steering was bothering me and helhedded. I took the dremel to the link and a bit on the servo case. Just lightly binds, nothing like before.

Mounted up a body i had laying around. Cant wait to get it on the rocks tomorrow!!!
