Default rob_b's Berg

So I left for a while but now I'm back. It all started as a quick and basic, budget, Berg build and then about 2 seconds later it began to snowball.

For starters I would like to thank mann0mann (Mike Mann) of HobbyTown Concord for putting up with me and being a such a great one stop crawler shop.
There are also a few builds that got the juices flowing and were great inspiration for the direction I am taking; Dr.Frank, SkaldidDog, e-hills4x4 and RcBro.
Last but certainly not least, yotachump for filtering mine and supplying his own tweaker ideas.

I could bore you with a fancy parts list but would rather just post some pictures for starters.

Nice rob!
What's with the bend on the front of the skid?
Can't wait to see more.

looks to me like its going to be pretty low profile, so the front of the skid would get hung up if not bent like that. kind of like a sled. but what do I know.

Maybe going to mount the battery off the back of the front motor case to make more room.

Thanks guys!

Wanted to try something new and had the chassis cut from .063" 7075-T6. I was a little worried about its stiffness but after getting everything bolted up it is very rigid. It's for 3.5" shocks and uses the Losi shock arms. There are two sets of holes that allow the shock arm to be adjusted in smaller increments. Wheels were chumps idea. They are CKRC Skinnies with the spokes cutout. The outer ring is cut from .080" Ti-6Al-4V and fit SLW hubs. You lose .300" offset so hub choices in the front get limited. The shortest hub that will clear the VP zero Ackerman knuckle is a .725 with a half spacer. A narrower hoop would help. You guys are right, I am planning on hanging the battery off the back of the gear case so it seemed reasonable to trim the skid like that. The rear section matches the footprint of the Futaba RX.

I thought the same thing before I assembled mine but with after some minimal cross-bracing at the upper inner ends the dang thing is almost inflexible. Good looking build.

Still need to make links and steering, also need another motor side case since the mills undo button isn't working. Should probably pickup some shock oil and what was that thing I used to have back in the day?

Oh yeah, MOTIVATION
