| I Feel Like A Chump
I have watched all the chump builds very close since the chassis came out and wanted to try one for myself to see what all the rage was about. I picked up a very slightly used one from a cool member on here. Thanks Am. I was in a little rush to get it all together right before a local comp so a few things will change from its pictured state. I have plans for a full new set of titanium and aluminum links and also a different tie rod setup for a little more steering. A different skid is also at the top of the list for me. It needs a lot of tuning still but I will get to that when all is finalized. So far it drives pretty nice and is very stable. I mainly need to work on the weight bias to try and get it to bite harder on steep climbs Current specs are as follows: V1 axles loaded with goodie Wraith knuckles and axial chubs Lockouts with 6x12 bearings 1" slw v4 with narrowed Blocks F/R Holmes sport 35t (Brood to soon replace) CBP 600mah 3s lipo These are tits and the new must have battery 2x AE-2 squished together with castle bec in 1 unit Hitec 7954 Cap modded big bores Gunnar mounts (must have for running a body) I will update more as things change along the way. First up is links followed by motors and motor guards. My bwd ones exploded first trip out |

| Re: I Feel Like A Chump More than 5 less than 7 lol. I don't really weigh my rigs. I add or remove weight until it drives to my liking. I used to get caught up in shooting for a certain weigh or keeping it uber light but found an average weight truck is more stable and a lot easier to tune for me. I used to get so caught up in it I would sacrifice durability for saving a few grams. I have learned my lessons there and build them to finish courses in 1 piece now. Because you asked though I will weigh her out for you EDIT: Weight is as follows: 5.62lb or 2554g RTR Tires are 682 g front (pair) 360 g rear (pair) Last edited by highlandcrawler; 01-19-2012 at 02:20 AM. |

I hear you on the weight thing, but if I had to guess I'd put it at 5.5lbs rtr Those rpm rod ends are snazzy. |

The reason i like a lighter rig to begin with is that it is easier to adjust weight bias with knuckle/lockout weights, as less weight is needed to shift COG around. A lighter rig also tends to have less stress failures. Downside is shock oil & foam changes seem to have a more drastic effect, stability is sacrificed for agility, and maximum available traction seems to e less. I think I tend to try and adjust my drivng more to the truck, as opposed to trying to adjust my truck to my driving style. It's probably not in my best interest, but since i don't get in as much run time as I'd like, I'd rather spend my time driving than tuning. |

Looking very good...what's the status on the complete front shafts? I feel the same way about the weight of rigs. I'm definitely happy to have a berg under 6lbs, but I have very little, if any, desire to drop mine any further than that. If a 9lb rig would launch like a 5.5lb rig I'd probably go that route...but 5.5lb just seems about right I also just noticed my original set of Red Dot Blocks. I have one pair with every 3rd row cut and one pair with every other row cut, which I offset just like you did. I haven't had any time on familiar rock to compare how the every 3rd compares to the every other, but I'm liking them where I have been able to try them out. I've been trying to go a little softer on the foam setups in the front as well which has helped out. I was happy that the Blocks take on a "rounder" profile when you narrow them up as well. I know someone might be jealous of the blue rod ends...Shelby? Last edited by ittybitty; 01-19-2012 at 01:50 PM. |

Well it's about time, looks good too. Not that you really need them any more but I posted link eye to eye numbers in my RT build.

| Re: I Feel Like A Chump I have been patiently waiting for them to pop up. I do still need a little help there. I think they way I have it set right now just isn't right. I dont feel like Im controling all 4 wheels when I drive. More like I drive the front 2 and the rear just follows. Don't know If that makes sense to you but thats the best way I can describe it |
