Default Ultra Custom D-Lux build

I set out on this build to make a car that was built the best way possible.

I weighed all my options coming into the Berg world. The way I see it, Bergs will really end up costing about the same in the end (for what I want) after buying tubes, gear box modifications, servo mounts etc,. etc,. I know from my experience in the 1:1 world that you can nickel and dime yourself and still not end up with what you really want or you can just dive in head first, pay up front (I know it hurts a little) but I am always much happier in the end and I don’t have to go through the growing pains, not to mention if youre paying for cheaper parts that are breaking, it could easily cost more in the end.

My XR did me really well until I went with some Brood power and I tried to hang out with some Bergs where there was a lot of binding and general rig abuse. My car just was not holding up anymore so I knew it was time to upgrade to the best stuff possible.

So, safe to say, after driving my XR for close to a year I was ready for a change.

I really love my XR and I want to keep it safe while it is not driving so I stowed it away in a storage bin.

Dlux super lite axles. Boo YA! No cheap imitations for me. I want the best of the best and that’s what I got.

These are the lightest, strongest and narrowest berg based axles on the market. Dlux to the rescue! Also, getting all of this off one website and even assembled is even better! I am stoked!

I knew there was no substitute for the Dlux super lite axles, not only because they are the lightest setup of anything you can buy, but also because they have the narrow front and rear cases which can be as huge of an advantage as being lightweight.

I had to have the aluminum rear axle shafts that the Dlux axle tubes offer, not only because they are the lightest thing out there but because they are brutally strong and the Delrin hubs Dlux offers is also not only a stronger and more reliable option but they also bring the light weight savings.

Never have a wheel nut come loose again? Yeah, fricken sweet!

In the mood for some Brood! These motors are bad....... ass......

Vapor
Skewed type T arms
Lots of light weight goodies.

Never felt a smoother nor more powerful motor.

Here is a nice clear picture for ya....

I went with the milled out stock gears, RCbros narrowed lockers and Dlux big pin mods. This is Erik's old set after he switched to RC bros gears. I will likely be doing the same down the road as soon as my bank account fills back up.

Its so sad to think that you and wheels will not be spending all that time tearing your axles apart in my front room just to tighten your upper link mounts.

Thank you sir. I have been following your build as well. I have been working for Dlux for a while and its fun for me to see where all these parts we are making are headed. We are in the process of making another batch of superlites .which has given me so much respect for what goes into making these bad ass axles.

I have seen Harvo but his rig into some crazy holes and honestly his rig is twisted all up like trying to ring out a wet rag and he just stays on the throttle until it comes out and still no failures with his D_Lux cf axles that's what made my mind up on getting them and also past experience with all any of Erik's stuff . And his customer service is beyond the best I've ever dealt with.

One of the greatest things I am stoked about is getting away from the typical wheel nuts used on our cars. Having the rear aluminum shafts that take the Bully style delrin hub means I had to get the fronts too. No more loose wheel nuts, no more broken hex pins, no more bent stub shafts. I cant wait to see my car go down the rock with no wheel wobble.

Of course, 70* capable steering is sweet too!

Ok, so while putting this car together, you notice all the details and what makes the axles so nice. Its all the little things you dont even know about until you have to start working on them and you can see the genius in the design and the craftsmanship in the parts.

One of the things that set me back is the hardware. I have never really seen any of the Dlux super lite builds say anything and I am super surprised. Dlux includes a lot of titanium hardware. This isnt the cheap screws you can get a lot of places, these are Lundsford screws. The fit and the feel on these screws is SO NICE! Dlux told me that he has about $50 worth of just hardware into the axles. I say that is money well spent!
