| What's your "go to" geometry/shock/link set up
I had a conversation at out last comp about setup and it seems that everyone has a different idea of what works for them. I'm curious where you all would start with a NEW chassis you've never driven before. I know there's many factors in all these adjustments, just asking about a middle of the road starting point, on a moderately light weight berg. I'm interested in where you all start before any tuning. Upper links- do you start with them flat as possible and go from there? Shock oil weight- Skid height- front and back Shock angles- laid down or steep Let the opinions fly! |

I try to make the lower links flow level with the skid whether it's angled or not. So looking from the side, there is one even plane from the front tire to the back. The shock angle is however they end up to get me to the above condition. If they are too steep I will slack them by adding longer rod ends. If they are too slack, I'll shorten the travel and stand them up. I try to end up after all that with 3 to 3.25 inches under the skid. Shock oil depends on the shocks you use. I like my shocks pretty fast though with really light springs and sag that is equal to about a quarter of their travel. I put the upper links wherever the chassis maker suggests, then go from there. It's pretty easy to tell if you have too much or too little bite at the rear. Front is tougher. |
