There are a few of us from around the St Pete area. Let us know when in March and maybe we can have a GTG at the Skyway.

I'll be driving down from IL. I will be in Florida 26-29th, kinda sucks I'll be driving to and fro on the weekends. I'll be staying at some fancy resort on the beach with my family. So while they are in the sun I can take the van where ever. I think I'll bring just my Clod and maybe my TLT if I can find the space. |

On that fateful morning of May 9th,1980 at 07:38 , during a violent rain squall producing high winds and almost zero visibility the empty phosphate freighter SUMMIT VENTURE piloted by Captain John Lerro slammed into the #2 South pier ( over 700 feet from the center of the channel ) of the southbound (1970) span , it knocked 1261 feet of center span, cantilever , approach and roadway into Tampa Bay. Thirty-five people , most of them on board a Greyhound bus bound for Miami plunged 150 feet to their deaths in what is now one of the worst bridge disasters in history. Rescue crews and divers were immediately dispatched to the scene, but of the victims who made the fall there was only one survivor , whose truck had luckily landed on the deck of the SUMMIT VENTURE After the fatal accident, traffic was rerouted onto the two-lane northbound span, until the planning and completion of the new SUNSHINE BRIDGE which opened in April of 1987. Just thought you needed a little history. LOL Quote:

Fred howard would be easier for some of us to get there during the week some of us live within 10 miles of there. It would be alittle more of a drive for you from St. Pete but the faimly could go to that beach.

Leaving for Florida this Saturday. Already, bought a brushless system and paddles for my Rc10B4. So far I'm set on bringing my TLT and Clod. It's going to be hard to pack lightly when I need so many spares and junk. 5 people in one minivan space is at a premium. My laptop is a piece of junk, so I'm hoping it will work for a little while at least when I am down there. |

28 minutes from Fred Howard I might do it. I'll have to talk to the rest of the people I'm traveling with to see if they would like to go.
