| StampedeProject - Fraken-FOFF Build
Well guys I saw enough FOFF builds here that I have been dieing to get a build going... but this is quite a Fraken-FOFF build of disparate parts. Let's see: HBZ WartHog Chassis Pro-Line Paddles Pro-Line Epic Slash Beadlocks Wheely King Axles RCP Wheelie King drivestrain - MIPs, Locker, Hubs, Etc. Axial Shocks DNA Wheely King Lower Links DNA Wheely King Servo Mount DNA Steering Link Kit Upper Stock Plastic Wheely King Traxxas Driveshafts Eventually I will use a Axial Transmission - the old Traxxas Tranny I laying around just won't fit. More than likely it will be 3S powered by a Mamba Max 7700 or Tekin R1 Motor Combo. Should be fun. |

| Do you plan to have the battery on the axle or the chassis? |

If I ever build one of these things, I'm calling it the Hassel-FOFF. |

What is the outfit that will totally freak out your wife? Answer - see above pic. On a more relevant note... I found a Mamba Max and 7700 KV motor which should provide a relatively water resistant system. I plan on using an old trick I used on my Stampede which was waterproofing the RX board in 50/50 paraffin/bees wax. I won a Axial tranny on evil-bay yesterday, so that will be the tranny. I figured out I could use my modified Stampede tranny if I turned it on it's side, but that's just a freaking pain. I will probably pull apart the axles and turn down the output shafts so I can use standard 5mm yokes vs the 6mm HPI versions. I doubt I will ever use a stock WK tranny again. Probably use some of FLM's new dog bones I am upping the tranny strength a bit with the FLM OUtdrive Gear. Since I am planning on this thing being subjected to near underwater treatment, I also picked up a Traxxas 2075 waterproof servo that should assure continual running even in the muddiest conditions. Well... Finally getting this project going again along with my RCP Bastard Jr. build. I have been waiting... waiting... waiting... on two sets of axles and three trannys for a couple weeks. Well I did get them cheap and they were parts bags from an SCX with SCX tranny mounts. What that meant was that I could use the SCX tranny mounts for improved geometry and a overall better look. Other changes were to pull the very nice but completely under-utilized RCP hubs, and CVD drive shafts off the rear and go back to the stock pieces. Seems a waste and I will end up using those on the front end of another WK build I am doing. The rear stock hubs were locked out with some steel Emaxx/Revo Links to kill the flex at the rear. I finally got around to mounting up the 2075 Waterproof servo, so at least that is done. Next up is waterproofing the electrics and getting some shielding for the Mamba Max. For the moment I have held off on throwing the axle output shafts on the lathe and turning them down to 5mm, but I did on a couple other axles and it should work great. My FLM parts have now shipped, so we will see if they will work out on this build. Pics will follow.... getting closer to a running rig. |

| Well thank you. A very nice chassis makes for a very nice build. On my way to waterproofing my FOFF I am getting ready to encase a Spektrum RX in a watertight case. I figure the Mamba Max is a pretty aquatic ESC that can take a dunk, so I really am not that worried of the ESC. Hmmm maybe one of MaxAmps new 3S Waterproof Lipo Packs. |
