Seems axial & wheel king based rigs seem the most popular. And you'll probably want to run a brushlrss system on at least 3s.

When I made my WK rig I used a 15 turn. To me it was plenty fast with a 7 cell. Brushless would be cool also, but if your on a budget...all you need is the speed and power to go up the hill, torque is going to play a role also. Try out differnet things,,,remember have fun with it!!!!

I'm sure brushed would be more than sufficient, but I figure the amount of damage sand will do to the comms far outweighs the initial investment of going brushless.

Keep in mind you don't need heaps of flex/articulation. I used 3" shocks on mine and seems to be happy in testing. A crawler set up will tie it's self in knots. FOFF's conform the surface they run on to suit them, not the other way around

Also, set it with the center of gravity low, with the weight more central than a crawler.

So for the chasis I can use the AX10 as the platform and braze a shell around that? Do you change any gearing on the tranny or in the axles?
