does anyone know of aftermarket gears for the axial trans? more specific, do they make a set of Higher gears so i can get more top end?? asked at the lhs, but no dice. was wondering if there is some small vendor making them. probelem is that on 3s after a while the motor gets hot and shuts down ( thermal mode) ppl tell me to gear down, but i say no!! i want to go faster. plus i think that higher gears in the trans will make it run cooler. my esc dosent get hot at all. my pinion spur is 54/18 vxl 3s i can run this thing all day on 2s with no heat issues. but 3s is fantastic. can anyone point me in the right direction? |

I dont know of any gear swaps for the trans but you can gear down and motor up. Try a 4500-5600kv motor and gear down. |

If you want to go faster, ditch the vxl system and run a mmp 2400kv. 4s and your ready to fly! Idk how your not satisfying your need for speed with a vxl on 3s. Oh, I've also learned, the vxl esc will only put out so many amps, try swapping it out for a older mm or fuze esc. I easily noticed more speed and gitty up when I switched to the fuze esc. |

seriously its already running too hot and you want higher gearing gear down some and volt up, but your using an axial tranny (and pobaly ax axles too) so that set up is not built for extreme speed, you really need more volts or motor. also you can not get diffrent gears for the axial tranny, look at the case you really can't get any other gear ratio to work Last edited by 2500hdon37s; 05-28-2011 at 04:29 PM.

I'm not quite sure what you mean, look at Billetworks Axial based foff rig, that thing is fawking fast, seems to be holding good.

[QUOTE=2500hdon37s;3115430]higher gearing anywhere is going to create more heat not less in this situation. seriously its already running too hot and you want higher gearing gear down some and volt up, but your using an axial tranny (and pobaly ax axles too) so that set up is not built for extreme speed, you really need more volts or motor. im not looking to get more speed out of it, thats not what im asking.. im looking for a way to run cooler. i know that my gear combo is high and will make things hot. im not new to this, i know that the axial trans/ axles are not built for speed. i just thought with all the hype behind the foff movement a small vendor might have come up with an option, since most of us are running basically the same setup. i know that gearing it down will make it run cooler, i have run 54/14. but its just as fast as 20/87. its too hard to tell the difference. i know that what i run now, gets my rig to the top befor anyone else. i ran my setup on a big 2s ( 3 in a row) with no heat issues. maybe ill save the 3s for comp time. |

I ditched the vxl as it couldn't handle what I wanted out of it...got hot and shut down. Huge difference just going to a mm pro/4 pole system.

I'm not sure if you've held one, but it's heavy. I really like it in my scx 10, vxl, 3s, 2.2 rig though.
