Default FOFF Wraith?

Hey guys I'm strongly thinking of buying a Wraith kit and going the foff direction with it. Was wondering if anyone new any pros & cons of a wraith in formula style?

pros- already caged, good stance

cons- need to upgrade esc, motor, driveshafts, rig & pinions, and tranny gears.

Here is mine...

Currently- 2.2 sand paws, cut 72 chev body

In the mail- Droop kit, Traxxas XL-5 ESC, 9.6V 8 cell 5000mah hump pack, traxxas titan 550 motor, punisher driveshafts, hardened ring & pinions, and hardened tranny gears, Traxxas 2.4ghz transmitter and radio.

I have a mamba max pro and velineon motor from a previous build. Therefore my next question is rtr or kit? Is it worth the $50 for the extra esc, motor, servo but no metal links?

The stock ESC is good for crawling, I put it and the radio in My HPI Crawler king, and it's wicked fun ...

Thumbs up few other wraith ideas

mill some extra room in the motor plate to allow for larger pinions so you can have more options for gearing as terrain changes...

I was running a 35 tooth in the snow with paddles to get max wheel speed, however for sand ill drop it down to get more torque, well with the new setup it will all change im sure, but it'll be fun testing .

And it is rough on the front drive shaft and axle, but a larger dia front tire will pull like a raped ape for slick hill climbs...

HEy Mud digger. How this is not too late for you to see. I'm thinking the same way as you. The darn thing appears to tip over if it sees a bump. I'm wanting to attack some dirt piles and various gravel hills etc. Stock Wraith sees em and tips over.

Just found on CRKC a lowering kit. I think this might work well for my needs. Perhaps more power, stronger grears and shafts. Might make a good dirt hill basher. What do you think? email me: goldriverjim@msn.com

Looks like nobodys home. Perhaps i'm in the wrong place. Foff should be low cg. Takes more than sand paddles, yes?

yup, low slung and between 9-14" w.b. My rig sits about 2" off the ground and 1" at full droop. The idea is to climb steep hills and navigate the gates while on the hillside. What you've got going here is more like a mudbog setup. Which is cool, I have one too. But for FOFF, low and long is where it's at.

try moving your upper shock mount higher somehow. That or go with a shorter one. You might be able to use the setup you have by doing that. As far as running a taller tire on the front, your front wheels will be pulling faster than the rear making for some weird handling more than likely. Use the same size all around.

Hey guys, back from school. I'm going to be building a foff wraith and class 2 scx10 so my budget limits me to a rtr wraith instead of the kit My plan is to add my mamba max pro, velineon motor, custom or ckrc lowering, gmade wheel wideners, panther paddles and 47/70 pinion/spur. Need a smaller spur though. So what do you think?
