Default hill climb advice

I was wondering I have an scx10 with stock 1.9 in tires would 2.2 be better. If I did put on 2.2 I would have to lift the truck a little bit . Any advice is appreciated.

Can you get 1.9 paddle tires? If so get them and see how they work.

True, but if it works with out changing his whole set up then he has a rig for double duty.

Panther paddles are less than 4" tall (3.8") about the same size as 1.9 flat irons or similar tires, so those should work with no modifications

Thanks for all the info guys very helpful I think ill try the paddle tires my rig has the 1.9 ripsaws on it now and does good for trailing and some of the comps ive been doing but they seem weak when it comes to hill climbs like they dont produce enough traction to make it up steep climbs . Ill look up the panther paddles in a sec when I get home . Is there any brand of paddle tires that is better than the other. Since ive never owned or thought about paddle tires here is a dumb question do they make them in different compounds like hard or soft etc. Bc every rig is difftlerent and has different weights

Did you vent and add weight to your stock tires?

vetn paddles? or crawler type tires?

i do know the 2.2 sand paws work awesome and are very steerable in the sand.

im also kinda veering away from any vented wheels or tires. my vented rippsaws are always soaking wet on the inside

No I didnt add weight to the tires im relativly new to the crawler/trailing scene I have been doin it a little over 3 months so im learning ive been to about 6 comps and won 3 of them and placed close to that in the other comps. My lhs i s wanting to sponser me to do trailing comps and hill climbs which is popular around here and the three events I lost I was struggling with traction on a hill. Anyway I have upgraded everythingn on my rig but the tires and put my lil personality into it. This is a very addicting hobby and I love it 10 to 1 compared to shortcourse and all other racing whichbi have done in the past. I love bashing it to its just pure fun and I also love building. But anyway I asked the hard compound question bc with paddles I didnt know if some tirea would have weight limits or flatten the paddes down completely. My rig weighs areound 8-9lbs

And I seen people talking about sand here earlier im in ky so we dont have a lot of sand more rocky and muddy would paddles do ok in that ive seen people run the the guy that placed 2nd under me at my first comp was running them but I never asked him performance wise how good they were I looked at them and thought it was an interesting tire choice but like I said im new and learning all I can as quick as I can.

Read this. How do I post pics?

Sand paws are staggered paddles and pretty firm, while panther paddles are full width paddles but much softer. If you don't run in sand or loose dirt, or even snow, paddle tires may not be what you want.

Have a look in the tire choices thread here and see what you may prefer.

if your running in loose dirt or soggy ground not sand, try some comp cut boggers, theyre 4.75" tall and bite like hungry hounds lol i run em when we go out on trails and i always shoot straight up most climbs, whereas the other guys running claws, pits, and treps are spinning the halfway up then dig their own graves lol.

i feel you on not using paddles on trails, ive seen some guys run em but whenever they hit anything hard they might as well be running flatirons lol, you can run comp cut claws and they would work somewhat as good, and if your in a bugdet pinch you can try 1.9 mudslingers (bogger knock-offs) and cut the small lugs off as well, its up to you bud all personal preference.

p.s. before someone mentions brushless systems, brushed is fine, im running an integy pro lathe 35t motor and an all steel trans, along with a front overdrive as well, geared 16t/87t and i have plenty of wheel speed and plenty of torque as well, and especially since your running dual motors lol

Cut boggers rock. I'm liking them more and more. They even do awesome in loose dirt and sand.
