Default Gmade R1 Buggy.... My first comp crawler.

Hello all. new to the forum and crawling. I have an Axial SCX10 for stock crawling and decided to pick up an R1.

Some build pix. Thats Frank btw. He hates crawlers.

Mocked up with body, waiting on some option parts to come before bolting it all together.

Stock shocks leak horribly even with 30wt oil from Axial.

They completely leaked out all the oil overnight, cartridges were tightened all the way, but not stripped, using an actual wrench. I had to use plumbers tape on the cartridges to get them to stop leaking. Not happy with the shock quality but they stopped leaking.

So I decided to switch to sprung setup instead when I rebuilt them.

Still waiting on the lighting setup, skids and some other stuff before completely finishing it.

how do I post a youtube video on this forum.

Look how damn slow the EZrun 35t 1200kv combo I ordered for the R1 is. It was so slow I may return it. Maybe its faulty?

I put it in my SCX10 for the video.

Added some White dot Rover tires, This thing is VERY capable now. Wow what a difference tires make. The Stock tires are horrible. Can't wait for the rest of my hopup parts to come..

your video compares apples to octopuses

One thing is different axle and gearbox ratios
the other is tire size, rollout makes a HUGE difference in speed

Nice ride, still have yet to finish mine.

One side panel left to do and yellow LED for the front Axial Spotlight, but lots of progress last night. Did 5 front spots, 1 rear brake from my axial parts bin. one LED points at the ground under the chassis for night crawling.

Putting the body panels on this thing is the hardest thing I've ever done in the RC hobby.

Night shots later if I can finish the other side panel.

Not the point. The 55t runs just as fast in the SCX10 as it does as the Gmade in the video.

The point is that the ezrun combo is slow and underpowered.

I tested the EZrun in the gmade and it was insanely slow so I yanked it. I have a 3000kv motor sitting here to test.

Only one red light. I tried two, and it just didn't look right with the staggered positioning on the axle for the light assemblies. I played with some way of bringing it over the axle so there were 2 matched tail light and it didn't look right.

All on the main battery reusing a leftover Tamiya TLU-01 and lighting from an R34 Tamiya kit....

I just added 2 white LEDs and only used one red LED for the rear. The extra LED points down at the ground for nightcrawlin'

hi,
Just wondered where the rear light (housing/mount) came from and how you've got the lights wired up - do you switch them on manually or are they linked to the receiver for control via your radio?

cheers…
