Default Grim's R1

This thing is pretty impressive, but out of the box there were a few things I thought were just ridiculous. The stock lower links were mounted outboard of the chassis and were almost parallel to the body. Also, the uppers were mounted on the outside of the diff. This design resulted in about 3mm of lateral play in the axles.
Also the straight lowers mounted far outside hung up all over the place.

Stock linkage

After the build I slept/planned a custom skid plate to resolve this...but low an behold a guy (ripper7777777) on RCcrawler already made one!

I ordered everything delrin part he made for the R1 and rebuilt the buggy with the inboard mounted skid and high clearance delrin arms and added some counter sunk screws.

I also shorted the front links by 5mm and lengthened the rear to move the chassis forward. The stock, near lateral linkage is now triangulated and the lateral play is eliminated.

Hers the stretched rear

Here she is with all the mods and ready for comp

I'll update as the build it evolves...

Thanks! I lengthened the rear and shortened the front so the over all length remains the same, but the chassis sits a bit further forward.

Picked up the heavy duty steering linkage kit. This is one of those upgrades that should have come with the kit in the first place. You cant really see it in the pic, but the skinny stock link had already bent.

I added the lights and painted the chrome diff covers black.
