Default 5 pictures later and the truck went up in smoke!

I went out today for a few minutes to test some weight on the tires and for some pictures. The fun didnt last long, the truck started smoking everywhere so I disconnected the battery and came back home. The ESC was obviously burnt so I replaced it with a cheap Dynamite Razor 12T to test everything else. I also changed the lipo 3s I was running with a 7.4 NiMH pack. Well, that didn't go well either, the battery got so hot it melted the wrapping and I'm afraid the Dynamite ESC might be done too. Hell, must be the freaking motor then! What do you guys think?

Setup:
Integy 55T
Sidewinder
3s Lipo 1350
spektrum receiver
645mg servo

By the way, here are the 5 pics before tragedy struck:

You killed the Sidewinder? That thing should have held up nicely in your truck. Did you recently change any settings on the ESC?

Man, I sure miss the rocks in the hill country....but they can slice up a tire quickly.

I did changed the reverse speed from 50%(stock) to 70%, that was it!

Hummm....that should not make a difference.

What lipo are you running and what is the discharge rating?

If the motor has a messed up advance even been a 55t it can drain an incredible ammount of curret causing the damages you suffered. I would advise to check the motor, dissasemble it and check the advance. I had a similar problem once and burnt a esc because of the wrong advance.

Check your wiring for shorts or more likely bare wire that may touch on occasion.

What I actually think it could be is this; how well does everything turn? How much bind or resistance in your drivetrain? Too much grease or too heavy if you didn't use stock. If for some reason your electronics (motor and esc) are trying to overcome an overly tight drivetrain is will overdraw the esc or battery. By themselves your esc should be able to handle anything you throw at it which points to something putting undue strain on it. My guess would be gears or other parts in the drivetrain binding severly.
