Default Brushed or brushless for my Gmade R1?

Hey guys, just took delivery of a used Gmade R1... well... when i say used the last owner had built it but never ran it.

It came with a 23T Tamiya Suoer Stock motor & i'm also using my old HPI Wheely King radio gear to run it.

Basically i want to swap out the existing motor for something with a bit more torque & that i can run a bit slower with.

So long story short i'm unsure whether to go for brushed or brushless? I like the look of the Tekin FXR set up maybe in a 45/55T?

But i've also been offered a Novak Goat brushless setup at a good price & to be honest i don't know enough to pick which one is better. Pros/cons etc.

So wondered if you guys can pass on some knowledge and tell me if one is better than the other & why etc??

Cheers

Paul.

I'm running a Tekin 13.5 brushless. It is one of the most fun rc cars I have to drive. It is fast and it crawls.

I was thinking about the same system for mine. Does it really crawl pretty well with that motor? What would you say the top speed is?

I had a 14t on it and dropped down to a 12t. It crawls pretty good, but it hauls ass realy good

I would say 20mph. I have LLC for crawling the R1 is for just having fun and it is very fun with a 13.5 in it.

I am thinking about getting that motor. I am using a Mamba Max speed control. Whats your opinion on that. I want something torquey with some speed to it

This is my R1 running standard gears, HH 500 puller 11Turn on 2S 1600mah and CC side winder.

Great wheel speed and crawls really well to boot.

I think you get the point about wheel speed. The Mamba Max will be fine for a HH motor it is the big brother to the CC SW

Wow... think you've sold me!!

Can you tell me which make the wheels you're running are? Really like the look of those, wouldn't mind sourcing a set for myself.

I bought them second hand on here. They are made by Eritex. Either Comp heavies or comp solids. Great wheel for a great price. Check their web site.

Also that motor, esc and Battery combo can all be bought from Holmes Hobbies.

I could not give you a speed in MPH or KPH but in the picture above. it only had a one metre run up and managed to launch like that.
