Default Sawback and Komodo

Hello all. I just purchased a Gmade Komodo and I'm stoked. One question I have is will the Sawback parts fit the Komodo? I know they share the same axles and frame but what about everything else?

Thanks for your time.

A lot of the parts if not all will work with the Komodo. When you receive your kit there will be a sheet of aftermarket parts for the Komodo. Searching the part number usually comes up as a saw back hop up part.

The Sawback sliders will also fit.

Can you install leaf springs on the Komodo since it has a 4 link suspension? If so, do you install both the shocks and the leaf springs or just one or the other?

I think you would need to lose the four link to use leaf springs, but if you do that you should have just got a sawback, they are fifty bucks cheaper and come with the leafs already. And if you go with leafs you want your shocks just for damping, that means no springs installed on the shocks.

Correct, you would have to remove the 4 link and the springs from the shocks in order to run leaf suspension.
As for "why do it?", I personally would like to leave the coils up front and convert the rear to leaf. This would be a much more life like set up as pretty much all pickups run coil/leaf combos.

I went to GMADE's website - I wanted to buy a Komodo so I clicked on the only dealer listed in the US and their website link did not work

How can I buy one?

Thanks

Pretty sure it would be way cheaper to get a sawback and convert the front to links, then vice versa.

Word of warning. Even though I see most online hobby stores listing axles as Sawback/Komodo, there is a difference. Komodo and the Sawback 4LS use 5mm longer axles than the Sawback. They will interchange, but you'll need to use 10 mm hubs with the Komodo/Sawback 4LS axles when putting them in a Sawback.

i noticed the same difference just for the rear axles.wonder why they didn't use wider hubs on the rear only for extra width?
