Were can I find some scale shocks that are NOT internally sprung? I think that the leaf suspension is enough, a sprung shock is just way over kill.. I want more articulation and would like to see the suspension work a bit more Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I have a pile of stock Traxxas shocks that have been wasting time doing nothing, started to rework them for my SB, they cheap & can be found all over peoples scrap piles on their benches

Be sure to post up what you guys discover. I would like to change shocks myself but just haven't explored that area yet.

If you're just looking for more articulation, just remove the stock shocks completely. They limit up-travel by at least 1/4". Beef up your leaf setup a bit and you'll be very happy.

I swapped in a few setups and finally settled on stock scx10's. You will get 1/4" extra swish and 1/8" of sag. Yes they leak like a bitch, so lose the oil and use a drop of 60-100k diff oil. It will still give a dampnening effect but won't leak out. Just a drop will do it.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The scx doesn't have holes, the plate is notched, and there wasn't options that I remember Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Bonus is that for their intended purpose they are so bad you can get them for pennies... Haha. But like I said, one drop of diff fluid gets it done and too thick to seep out Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Yeah, scx10. You have a standard hole style valve plate? It's like that in my larger ax/wraith shocks, but the little guys are notched Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

How new/old is it? The ones I'm using are off a dingo, from when it was new. Either way the valving is irrelevant as there won't be any fluid. The diff fluid sticks to the inner shock body to cause the friction/dampening. If you have more than a drop or two, they will be so stiff, they won't compress Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I've built two Rubicons that offered a choice of pistons, so 2012 I guess as far as age. I hear what you mean about the gear oil. I 'm sure it won't pass through those tiny holes.

If using a hole style plate, I would notch it into a star shape with a dremel. As far as performance goes, you will get just about 3/4" more travel using them, so I can recommend doing it! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
