Default Can you get decent wheelspeed with an r2 HD

I was wondering if any of you guys have used an R2 HD. I need a beefy tranny cause the axial just doesnt cut it. I run a goat system right now, but I am gonna be putting in a mamba max and cobalt 7t. I was wondering that if I put a bigger pinion on it I could get decent wheelspeed for mud bogging. I have already toasted 4 output shafts and I am leary on just getting a beefy output shaft cause then I am gonna be wrecking gears.
I kinda want my weakspot to be my driveshafts but I dont want them to be that weak.
Also I was wondering if a maxx driveshaft is 5mm, and it has a pin that goes through the output and pinion instead of a set screw right? (its been awhile since I had a nitro)
Any suggestions are welcome.

TCS has metal gears for the Axial tranny. R2's haven't been the best trans, from gears stripping to bushings blowing. Atleast with the Axial you have a chance of picking up spares at the LHS.
I haven't really seen anything about the HD version though, it may not be as problematic.

I was just wondering about the r2 cause it can hang lower. My axial cant go lower cause the spur gear hits the frame, and my driveshaft angles are a little extreme. But thanks for the info I didnt catch those gears before.
