Default VF dig VERY LOUD

I have a VF dig on my rig and it works great but it is extremely loud, I have tore it apart and it has minimal or no wear and is a lubed up good. So i assume all end point adj are correct but before the dig my tranny was super quiet now you can hear me coming from a mile away i have no chipped or missing teeth on any gears inside or out. I have heard a few others in our club and there rigs are still quiet? what could be the problem. At first i thought end points were off and that everything was rubbing together in there but like i said i have very little wear showing

Are you sure it's the dig making the noise and not the pinion and spur?

Is it a high pitch noise, or grinding noise?

Kind of a deep grinding sound, I have check the mesh on my pinion and spur and it is good and i have even tried different mesh, i tried a very tight mesh and loose and it was so loose it strip out my spur and there is no difference in the sound and everything feels pretty smooth when turning by hand i cant feel any real tight or ruff spots in the rotation? i have switched motors out and that wasnt it...am at a loss here. It doesnt effect the performance at all but it is very annoying after a while with it being that loud

I wonder if the drive cog that attaches to the outdrive is loose or machined wrong? Any chance you have some dirt or grit in? Maybe a piece of aluminum broke off in side from the case.

What about the actual trans itself? Any chance the gears could be going out in?

My son's VF dig is quiet. The only issue we have had from it, is it disengages when climbing or bound up. I finally reset the EPA to a few numbers past where it was to continually put pressure on the dig shaft to keep it engaged. So far it's OK, but I don't understand why I had to do that and I don't want the servo to burn up.

No for sure not axles because i have had the tranny out of the rig and ran it and it is still super noisy.and everything in the dig unit is clean and free of crap. It has to be the dig because my rig was very quiet before i put the dig on. I have tried different end point adj i have had it pulled in tight i have had it pushed out a tad/alot everything i can think of:-( I have changed the pinion, spur and inspected all the gears in the tranny and it is all fine..ohhh well

if you had the axles off and it made noise still take the dig off the tranny and run the motor and tranny to see if the noise is still there, if so its not the dig.................bob

My dig was fine until I put on my panther cougars and mayhem dp's. Now when it starts to bind up its like the dig unit pops. Is anyone else having this problem. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

no problem here, sounds like your end point is not adjusted all the way and it is not getting full contact.

Mine started doing that but it was just the set screw on the linkage that came loose. I sanded a flat spot and put some red lock tight on it.
