| what size tubing for tube chassis
I am in the planning stages for a tube chassis, and I was hoping you guys could tell me what size tubing to use. I was thinking 3/16" DOM to 1/4" DOM tubing instead of using brake line tubing. I can't weld BL tubing, but I can weld DOM all day long. What do you guys think, and has anyone used steel tubing instead of Brake line tubing? Thanks DIma |

Better to ask/search for this in the tools and procedures section. Having said that, I generally use 3/16" for most builds, even supers, unless they're really "spacious" in which case I'll use 1/4". Brake line is steel. So yes, you can use steel tubing. If you're using something like stainless steel, you'll find it's a bit harder to bend and cut than brakeline, but brazes up just fine. |
