I want to know what 1st and 2nd gear ratio people would want from a 2 speed tranny. The stock Axial trans has a ratio of 2.6:1 I have worked out the gears required to do a 1st gear of: 2.7:1 and 2nd gear: 1.8:1 none of the numbers include the reduction of the pinion & spur. Whats your thoughts?

the old emaxx trans has two stock ratios of 2.76, and 1.87 by the time you get one slow enough, the other is not fast enough. at least for me. I want something that will switch between 4 and 7.5 mph, not 4 and 5.5 mph which is about what I get out of the emaxxes in the shifting rigs I have. of course the case for it is huge, so if you have an axial doing the same thing it will at least be a shorter package and easier to fit in rigs. the next trick would be shifting it from the side instead of the end, so with a modified output shaft, you could hook a disconnect to it and have a high, low, 2wd, 4wd options for the scale guys Another issue would be sloppy shifting, the emaxx has a lot of rollback which is why you don't tend to see it is comp rigs in shifting form. Sounds like a good project though, keep us informed.

Now with the Summit out, maybe you could recase it's trans, like you did Axials? The Summit ratios seem to be pretty good. Yeah, yeah, I know it's an old thread, but a Summit trans case would be sweet.
