| Link Geometry/placement Question
I recently cut my skid on my fat dog so it wasnt 4" long and now that i have narrowed it up my lower links no longer reach the skid. So my question is can i take the lower link and move it up with the upper link? The upper link is spaced with a ball end to space it so the lower link would just replace it..but it would bring my lower link up alot from where it was and it will also triangulate it a little. I have alot of work to get it back together so i dont want to put it all together to find out it wont work with it this way. I have attached a image with a arrow pointing to where i want to move the lower link. I just dont know a ton about link geometry and all that. |

That is probably a bad idea as far as the link geometry is concerned. In addition the front of the skid can now hang up on virtually everything. Just make some new lower links.

This pic is the way it was before i cut the skid so the skid is now only about 2" wide. But your probably right on getting hung up i never thought of that |

You could redesign the skid plate so that it is bowl shaped instead of trough shaped as it is in the old pictures. Then you could notch the skid for the lower links (leaving the notch wide enough to prevent binding throughout the full range of motion), if designed properly you could end up with fewer sharp edges to hang up on, double triangulation, plenty of travel, and good anti-squat geometry all at once. You would probably still need new control arms though.
