| Ultimate Tire Review!!!
Courtesty of Rob's Hobbies, I received the test set of KROCKs for RCCrawler.com. (I still can't believe the "CRAWER" spelling!!!! on the tire) I am going to conduct a test of all the best tires out there on the same course and on the same truck so it's accurate. Here is what will be tested: Imex Krocks Imex Kongs(narrowed) Imex Jumbo Swamp Dogs Associated BFT's Losi LST's Hot Body Phsychos (narrowed) XFactor tires (narrowed) which I'm finding to be a good tire!!!!!! Stock Clods HPI Savage Thanks again to Rob's Hobbies for helping to make this happen.......the only place I'd buy tires from!!!! I think these are the hottest tires we have available for crawling and I'm anxious to see what grabs and claws the best. |

Call me crazy but shouldn't a tire test be between tires you can buy. Having narrowed tires in a test for an article seems a bit silly. I would think you should test them on the same rims too. I mean the tire is what you are testing, so test them and only them. Use some Maximizer beadlocks since they are all Maxx friendly tires and leave the tires stock, NO narrowing, tread cutting or narrowed rims. Make it truely fair. Just my 2 whell maybe 5 cents worth.

I considered your point.....however decided that we are looking for the best performing rock crawling tire....right? Most of us would not buy Kongs or Swamp Dogs and crawl with them right out of the box. I am taking tires that have been modified to perform at their peak(in my opinion) and testing them all. Some tires, like the KROCKs may not need any mods and that would be a huge selling point of the tire. "A great tire right out of the box....no mods necessary." What you are suggesting makes sense but what I want to know is.....what tire works best, no matter what!!! |

as for the wheels: I will be using different types of wheels but they will all have exactally the same offset, width and diameter. |

Treads not modified? And there could be a better way to realign the tread after it's cut, so there's a little gray area I suppose. |

Dirk, I love the idea. I agree, testing tires right out of the box (bag??) wouldn't make much sense for us crawlers. How many guys in this board bought Kongs and are still running them with the stock tread pattern and dimensions?? Testing a bunch of stock tires would kinda suck. Sure, we would know how each STOCK tire works. How many of us run stock, uncut tires?? I suspect that there is more guys with cut tires (and some of us with mulitiple sets of different tires). How many guys spend days thinking of ways to cut (and cutting) thier tires, whatever they are? Seems to me that most tires are cut. Anyone with cut tires knows that they are totally different animals after they are cut, so stock testing would be silly in my opinion. By the way Dirk, the truck looks fabulous!!! You're a crazy mofo for sure!! Have fun with the testing, and thanx for volunteering to post the results. Vince |

I can't wait for the results. I've been dreaming of a set of Kongs for a while and got most of the $$$$ set back in a cookie jar. Lately though,I've been eyeballin the Losi LST's. I seen the new Losi truck at my LHS with these beasts on it. Very good looking tire and feel real soft and grippy. I'm having a hard time deciding,I've thought about it,yes, but right now getting both isn't an option.
