| the perfect paint - bed liner!!!!
I dont know if you guys have the same problem, but i just got fed up: every time i rolled my jeep my perfect black roll cage would be scuffed and become a combination of black and that awful blue. So i finally bucked up and went to napa and bought some spray on bedliner. It has held up great so far, although I've only rolled it twice since painting it (pretty good rolls though). But its a great thick kinda rubbery paint. |

Looks very realistic. How expensive was the Bed Liner though?

If I beat the paint up bad enough i'm going to do my tub in that stuff. I just have about 7 coats of Krylon semi flat on my cage right now. I managed to drop about a foot and a half onto some chain link fence material today(climing up two pieces of metal leaned on the back of a trailer, left front tire kept lifting, then it finally went over :-x ), held up fine.

the paint was like $6 at napa autoparts. its larger than your standard krylon can too.

well after some more bashing today, I had one decent roll over and moderate roll cage scuf***e. The paint held up great and didn't peel off like the normal krylon you get. However, I still fear with a good tumble, deep scoring could occur, I only put 3 coats on. I'm goin to apply three more coats and that should take away my fear. Also if you do use bedliner make sure you roughen up the cage surface, bonds much better. Hey beermonkey what would you use to dye the plastic?

Rit clothing dye works for some plastics. Boil it then soak your parts in it.

What about usuing Plasti-dip? I use it for dipping my servers in it to make them water proof, it is a thick petroleum based goo that you dip your things into such as steelhandled tools and such. I think it would work fine and not harm the plasitc just give you a rubberish texture on the cage.
