It's a very sharp crawler, I'll give you that, but from a practical standpoint, it probably wouldn't do as well on the rocks as a lot of the simpler chassis designs that are out there for the Clodbuster. Nice shelf queen, however!

Looks good. Congrats on your crawler. RC4WD is selling them for $799 USD maybe it cost $100 to ship to your location? I bet if you come down ~4" on the wheelbase and about ~1" on your ground clearance, Get a nice set up dialed in you could do pretty decent in a comp class. Practice will take you far with that. I really like the packaging. Nice job RC4WD.

* I think this thread is in the wrong section..

A friend of mine had one of these. He didn't know what it was 'cos he bought it second hand, and neither did I until now. RC4WD huh? Very blingy!

I did a spot of maintenance on it for him, so I hope you don't mind if I offer a tip or two. The shockies leaked badly. There is no wrenching flats on 'em and ya wouldn't want to touch 'em with pliers! Check they're tight. And the gearboxes sounded like they were full of sand, atrocious noise. Maybe check they're greased from new. I only saw it on the rocks once, for about ten minutes. It failed to impress, he took it home, it's for sale now (maybe sold already). Certainly need to shorten it. But with proper set-up I see no reason why it wouldn't work well.

You're sure to pull a crowd, hope you enjoy it.

Cheers.

well Terranaut, your friend probably had a Gecko 2 or something because this just came out not too terribly long ago. within the last month i want to say.

on another note, I don't see why they would go back in time to 2004 with that design. we ditched those morals long ago.

I was thinkin' it looked pretty obsolete design-wise myself.

Hell, a small dog could walk right under that thing!!!

Beautiful machine work though...

Sorry to dredge up an old thread. The crawler I referred to was indeed one of these, certainly not a Gecko 2. It sat in the LHS for at least six months before my friend bought it before Xmas, so it's not really that new. Exactly the same as the Killer Krawler by RC4WD. Interesting.

And I see that they have option lower links to shorten it by 120mm, which should bring it down to a more manageable 18" wheelbase.

Cheers.
