heat it up with a torch/lighter till it gets shiney/wet looking then bend away

1/4" is to flimsy for links. 5/16" or bigger is what you need

I use a heat gun, but not everyone has one of them sitting arround. X2 on the 5/16" for a 2.2
If its for a super use the 3/8"

I stick them in the oven a 350* for 8min. or so and throw them on a jig. Works very well and will not make weak spots like from a torch.

Do it on a baking sheet with alum.foil to be safe.
