| Need some help really fast and badly (Pictures now inside)
I am puting together my Boyer chassis with Jugg/TXT axles and tranny. It has a 4 link setup with the shocks going from the upper part of the chassis to the 4-links. The issue I am having is that when I turn ether left ot right it almost looks like it's doing a crab walk. I have a 1/4 servo in the front and the rear is lock. Is this normal? How do I correct this ot do I need to correct it. I am going to a get togheter saturday morning and would like to get this fixed for it. :? |

Sounds to me like you have to much play in the rear causing it to turn a little when you steer the front.

I have seen a Boyer a couple times now and it seemed to do the same thing. I'm not sure what causes it, maybe link geometry? :? Sorry I cant help more. |

Get pics of it. We'd probably be able to offer a better educated guess with pics. |

You need to get rid of it, it's junk. I'd move the lower links to the spot that your upper links are mounted on the axles. Then mount the upper links to the link mounts on the axles, TXT style. Or you could just give up on it and ship it to me. :P |

Where would you mount the shocks?

Dude you need to triangulate the links. Your lower links are not working with the uppers to control the axle. Do a search on www.pirate4x4.com for four link suspension you'll figure it out.

His links are triangulated. It appears that your links that are V shaped are mounted lower on the chassis than the straight links. Yet the V links are higher on the axles than the straights. This needs to be fixed. Have the V links mounted on the chassis the distance apart as they are on the axles. The ones that are on the top of the axle should be the higher ones on the chassis and vice versa. Hope this helps! Destroyer |

I didn't even notice that there wasn't vertical seperation in the mounting points at the chassis. Good eye! Although I don't have that much seperation on mine, and Dirk's Jr runs zero seperation. casper, here's what I'm talking about as far as links. http://www.rccrawler.com/postt2014.html |

as weight is transfered to one side creating less preload on the inside and more on the outside of the turning truck and that combined with the suspension geomety is twisting the axle the oposite way? Do you get axle steer when you articulate? Id try changing the upper link locations so that they are triangulated the oposite way they are now. And try runing the links parallel to each other. my theory, hope it helps

now i havent messed with those axles, so im not too familiar with them. anyway, on top of the axle, are those 2 holes for the upper links? if so, i would move my upper links to those and then run the other end of your links to the outside of the chassis where the mounting tabs are. also, when you mount them to the chassis, try and give it some more seperation. you may have to remake 2 upper links to do that, but it will work alot better than what ya have now. it just looks like your link geometry is all screwed up right now IMO OR you can move your lowers to where your top links are mounted( on the chassis), then mount your top links to where i said to put them and make sure you have some seperation. doing it that way would have you doing a double triangulated setup but you can only do it if the chassis allows you enough room to do it.you also may be able to do that by moving your lower links up to where your uppers are now located on the axle( i think jason mentioned that already) but a double triangulated setup IMO is the best way to do any setup. |

The steep link angles are the main problem I see, IMHO. Move the links at the axle end like Jason said. This will flatten them out and should help. |
