Default Sneek Peek, Thudertechs new axles

Woohoo, I got my new Thundertech Racing Clodbuster CVD axles, just in time for the New NN chassis crawler I am building. I will be writing a full article on these axles, but couldn't wait to post these pictures.

These new axles come with all new bearings, as they are way to big to fit through the stock bearings on the clod.

Here is a picture of the shaft.

Next, this pictures show my favorite part, the increased turning radius you gain from these axles. Top is a stock clod axle at full turn, bottom is a new Thundertech CVD at full turn.

Here you can see the size the the new stub shaft. Note that these are also 1/4" longer to widen your clod 1/2" overall.

Here is the puny stock Clod outer shaft.

I believe these are shipping now, at http://www.thundertechracing.com/

Everyone but the Colorado guys can get them. I need the extra advantage of that steering

yea stockers turn till the knuckle hits the hub. To get the full advantage of these you have to grind the hell out of the knuckle ;)

good thing the knuckles are easier to replace than the hubs.

It's not a stupid question. It's actually one that needs answered, might save folks from wasting their money. The TTR axles WILL NOT work on a TXT.
The Clod and TXT use the same stock axle. It has splines on the differential end. On the TXT it slides right into the side gear in the differential. On the Clod it slides into a brass hex, which slides into the differential.
The TTR axle has no splines. It is hex shaped on the diff end. I haven't seen the actual product yet but in the CAD drawings it was hex shaped. I would assume it was since the new axle also comes with a new hex shaped piece for the diff.

TXT owners might look at RC4WD's new Stainless Steel axle. Your turning radius would stay the same with the RC4WD axles, unlike the TTR Clod axles. :-( But the Stainless axles should be much stronger than stock axles.
