|  How Does This Look??
I'm just about to start ordering parts for my first crawler. Thanks for all the help you guys have given me. For the most part I used the search function to learn all the info though. I'm a good noob  So here's the parts list. Please tell me if something doesn't look right or if something needs to be on here. Pretty good list....... I'd checkout: www.cheapbatterypacks.com - cheap, quick, quality, custom packs/wire/connectors www.ebay.com- - for axles shocks and ??? $130 will get you a whole Clod - try to score some Proline 40 series Outbacks made for Clod/TXT. Rare but if you have all winter you should be able to score some. - you probably don't need Big Bore shocks and you definitly don't want to paint your truck with Teal   definitly keep an eye out here @ rccrawler.com in the "For Sale" Section |

I'd go with Dean's Ultra Plugs instead of Power Poles. Less resistance, lighter, smaller and easier to solder. all around a better connector. but either one's better than Tamiya plugs. also think about some 23mm wheel adapters and either dish wheels (hella strong and works like a rock ring) or the Cheyennes if you want some style. a lathe motor will spin Maxx hexes and your blingy new wheels will be FUBAR. Is the Y-harness for your steering? If you have a 3 channel radio, you can have independant front and rear steering (IMO this is much better than steering 4 wheels at all times). Well, I guess it depends on the radio. Does that radio have some type of switch for the 3rd channel?

Oh yeah........ Do yourself a favor and get a TQ3 Radio and the $10 kit from www.thecrawlerstore.com for rear steer.

Jake- Have you ever backed 2 coats of chezoom teal with one or two coats of mettalic black? Coolest color I've ever seen.... Microgoat -What do rock rings do and how are dish wheels like them? And also, you really think i will ruin my wheels using maxx hexes? And I've heard people have some problems with deans being a pain in the *** to disconnect sometimes. Thought id try PPs instead. SVEN- The y-harness is for my steering, yes. Since im just crawling for fun i figured i wont need independant steering... I was planning on just using two channels on that radio. Guys, just for the record im not trying to set you straight or anything, just giving reasons for my choices. Thanks for the help and please respond to this post!! |

Ditch the steel axle kit and get the Thundertech CVDs. More steering throw and tough as you'd want. Ditch the aluminum knuckles and "extra stock axle tubes" and get yourself some aluminum JPS axle tubes (won't need extras)....run plastic knuckles and mount the batteries under the front knuckles. If you just want aluminum knuckles, buy one set and put'm on the rear. Deans plugs...can't beat'm. As far as the radio and servos...I'm kinda partial to my Airtronics VG6000 (six-channel stick radio) and Airtronics 94359Z servos. I've been running the same two servos without servo savers for two years now without breaking gears or having them fail. With the VG6000 you'll have more options available for dual ESC setups, winches on a scaler, etc.... I have managed to break off 1/2 of the "Ears" on one case. I think it'll be $4 or so to get a new top half. |

Holy crap Jason I just went and looked, I can't afford no $140 servos!!! ScMc I believe that with your rear steer tied to your front it puts you in bad spots more than it helps. If it were me I would rather have no rear steer thant have it tied to the front. But I would rather have independant rear steer over all. |

nice list, and while i've been very pleased with rcguy products i would totally look into the crawlerstores stick chassis or nn chassis. also, beware of rc4wd. some peeps have had serious problems with 'em. |
