Default backyard homemade crawl spot build thread

heres the start of my backyard crawling set up. Pretty basic looking right now but will be covered with modular fake rocks and real rocks along with some freeride mountain bike inspired obstacles like teeter totters, drop offs and ladder bridges. so far about 150 dollars in wood and materials

the up ramp will have 3 sections. the left side where there is no ply is going to be a slick rock style climb all the way to the top, the middle will be filled with real rock, and the right side will have the end of a ladder bridge attaching near the bottom then modular rocks the entire way up the climb. the top of the table will have an elevated section coming off the right side that will wrap around the table and have a teeter totter off the end of it going into the decent.

Looks good, I actually have a pretty large course set up already and I have the teeter totter thing going on and its alot of fun, the trick is and its not hard but the reseting of the teeter totter is key. Look forward to seeing it completed.

yeah Im just going to do it like we do for the mtn bikes and make the balance point so it will always reset automatically. I usually just make the front half of the wood heavier or use metal washers to weight it if its too light on front.

Yeah Im hoping to only have real rock on the up and down ramps and maybe a very few pieces on the table top....luckily no kids so no worried about that right now. Its pretty strong so I think it will hold up but I may have to ad a piece or two.

looks sweet man, our course has a teeter totter that resets, but it will be moved now to the edge of the descent, that is an awesome idea.

yeah I think it will be cool to go from ladder bridge climb to teeter totter that is pretty steep right into the decent should be pretty technical and fun without tearing the truck up too much if ya slip

Yeah im hoping my idea works but I plan on taking and making ply wood bases just a bit bigger than the object im building the rock out of then spraying the expanding foam over the object and carving it so that a little bit of the corner of the plywood still shows where I can get a couple screws in it and move it around if I want I dont know if it will work but I have a couple samples drying so I can try it

I'm expecting the North Shore of Vancouver, BC (the mecca of freeriding) in your build!

slick rock climb template

decent ramps...two different grades

should be doable....will definately be a challange

steeper decent

longer decent

Oh damn crazy flex

Heres my idea on the rock.....garden timber cut to size, screwed to plywood base, expanding foam covered, cut to shape, cover in chicken wire, covered in cement......

Dont know if these will work or not. Ill have to wait on them to dry to test them out to make sure they dont chip or break.
