Default my winter project

well now that ive basically finished my tlt/maxx i needed another project. i decided to do something like a maxx. instead its pede axles. im planning ondoing the same thing you do to maxx, lock the axles and 4 link it.

tonight i got the beadlocks mounted and was debating on a wb

in that pic there is 17" wb which i thought looked good seeing that itll probably have 6-7" of clearance. but then i was going through the maxx gallery and most people are running 15-16". so i need opinions please.

there is about 3.5" of clearance under each tranny.

Why post this in the Maxx Crawlers section if it's not even a Maxx? Post it in General as it doesn't conform to Maxx's at all.

How's it "basicly" a Maxx when it's just two 'Pede rearends? A Maxx means that it's going to be using Maxx parts, like the diffs and maybe even the Maxx tranny. Just becasue it's made by Traxxas doesn't mean it's a Maxx either......Get with it kid.

well even if it is setup like a Maxx, that doesn't make it a maxx when you not even using maxx parts

this has been done before. I think that it will be really good if you put your mind to it and make a nice, clean project. keep the chassis pretty low. you can basicly copy a clod chassis and then get some devastator2k aluminum 4ws hubs. or i think that swami makes something just like it. I think that it will be about 12 to 13 inches wide, so 15.5 inch wb should be great. the center clearance doesn't need to be nearly as high in relation to the axles, so about 4.5 inches should be fine. however, if you want it to be a bit more like a clod, or just have it be competition based, go for about 6 inches gc, and some high clearence links. do you have the rear assemblies yet? you can mount the servo where the shock tower went.

i have some more ideas, so let me know if you want them. and this should be in the general crawler forum. it just isn't a maxx. all of the rigs in this forum have maxx axles. this doesn't. using my amazing powers of deduction that i learned on the toilet, i have concluded that this rig doesn't belong in this area of the wonderful RCC Forums.

Have a nice day

what do you mean "do you have the rear assemblies yet?" if youre asking if i have the rear axle and tranny, yes i do. im not going to need 4ws either. and as for mounting the servo i might have to leave the shock towers on because i need something to mount the links that hold the arms in place and to mount the suspension links.

Wow, that is narrow. Get some X75 faceplates atleast or some clod to maxx adaptors/wideners.

I suggest you aim for 4.5" ground clearance with a 15" wheelbase

Also, make those lock out links shorter and mount them lower on the shock tower

ok got some work done. sorry i couldnt update cause as most of you may know my computer was not working for about the past 2.5 weeks.

i got the stick part done and links measured out. it had about 5.5" of learance under the stick without any tires mounted and 3.5" under each tranny without any tires mounted. the wb is 17". i figured a longer wb would be fine since it will have like 6.5" of learance after the tires are mounted. I also decided to do something a lil different with the links. you see that in the pics.
